2026 Schedule Tidbits

sloat has to play attack. colsey prob gets in there too if hes healthy. they have talent but i dont trust dino jr. to maximize it...

delgado really came on at the end of last year. he's a player

Ya I figured Colsey probably starts somewhere for Duke from day 1. I wonder if Dino Sr goes with a full youth movement with Drago , Scioletti and mixes in some of the Grad guys like Gaffney and Mencke on the mid lines.

Feel like Penn States OOC is not as hard as ours. They have Princeton UNC and Cornell as top 10 opponents while we have MD, GTown, Princeton. Their next hardest is Colgate, while along with Colgate, we also play Harvard who could be borderline top 10 next season, along with Hop and Denver who could be decent. Maybe he is valuing Cornell based on their previous season, but they should take a pretty decent step back with Kirst and a few others out of the picture.

duke's schedule is such an abomination that one has to wonder if dino is planning to step down and hand the reins to his son and so he softened the schedule to inflate their win loss record in matt's first year...i havent heard thats happening but the schedule is so bad you have to think somethings going on there
The long-time rumor on our board is that Matt isn't as well-liked as his Dad is and there could be major defections if he takes over.

If the preseason projections are not too far off, Duke will still likely have 4 top 10 matchups on their schedule next year. 5 or 6 if they make the ACC tourney. As wild as it looks, that is still more top 10 games than a lot of teams will have. Win two in the ACC and one in the ACC tourney, or two in the ACC and beat Cornell, and they are likely in, unless a cupcake gets the upset against them.

Is that even a rumor? It just seems evident when you watch Duke’s games and they show the sideline.

Only 12 games again for Maryland and this years schedule is pretty much a carbon copy of last year, in fact I think it's an exact copy just flip home and away from last year.
As far as opponents are concerned that is true. There was a subtle flipping of the order of the Michigan and PSU games, and also the Rutgers and OSU games.

Plus Big10 conference tournament. If they make the final that's 14 games so not too light.

That schedule is not more difficult than ours.
Eh, they're pretty close. Of course, the big caveat is a lot of this is determined using how teams performed last year, and that may or may not translate to this upcoming year.

Cuse: 15 games, 4 in conference and 11 OOC
UMD: 12 games, 5 in conference and 7 OOC

Common OOC opponents: Princeton
Common in-conference opponents: UVA, ND, JHU
They do, of course, play each other as well.

Cuse conference games: Duke, UNC
UMD conference games: Michigan, Penn St., Ohio State, Rutgers

Remaining OOC games for Cuse: Harvard, Georgetown, Denver, Penn, Boston, Colgate, St Joes, Air Force
Remaining OOC games for UMD: Richmond, Delaware, Loyola

Comparing the dissimilar parts of their schedules, Duke/UNC and PSU/OSU wash each other out, though UNC feels like it has the highest ceiling of the group. Richmond and either Georgetown/Harvard could cancel each other about, but I feel like GU and HU will probably both be better this year. Denver is tough to tell. Delaware, Loyola, Penn, Colgate, St Joes, and BU feel like they'll all be competing in the seem tier this year, but again BU feels like they'll be the toughest of the group.

Air Force and Rutgers are about even (never a bad time to troll the Scarlet Knights).

Cuse has more games and I feel like their opponents skew a bit more potential this year, but the compact nature of UMDs schedule probably helps their metrics more.
