That seems about right to me.
Bubble team probably on the right side of the bubble.
8-10 seed depending on record.

I won’t overreact at all if we lose nonconference games. We are playing a hard schedule and we aren’t loaded roster wise.

I hope we can get more offense than just jacking up 3’s and try to actually run in transition and get some easy offense as well.

One of 4 other teams projected to go 12-8 in conference which would be tied for 3rd place.

Really questioning that Notre Dame and Virginia rankings though. What does Notre Dame have to make them the 3rd best team in the ACC?

Notre Dame isn’t much different than us.
They have Hubb and Ryan and a bunch of vets.
We have Buddy and some vets.

They have better PG play coming back.

PG in college hoops is the most important position nowadays but it doesn’t appear our HC agrees with that with how we have fielded the position recently since Gbinije.

Torvik has said that continuity/retiring production plays a large part in his preseason numbers. I would imagine Kenpom’s algorithm operates the same way. ND brings I think everybody back so while I don’t agree with it the numbers make some sense.

They aren’t better than us though. We’re going to play relatively similar styles of basketball but we have better shooting and our defense will at least have a pulse.

Notre Dame isn’t close to us. Spin it anyway you want but they went 11-15 last year and brought in zero players. They return everyone from a bad team.

Notre Dame added the Ivy League player of the year as a grad transfer.
If we are going to count Jimmy Jr. they added a better version of him.

The guy they added is 6’10 and averaged over 17 in the Ivy League was co-POY.

Jimmy is like the 3rd best player we added so I’m not sure why you’re comparing them. And when the media predictions come out they will be behind Syracuse/UVA/VPI/UNC. If you really think they are finishing there then put your money where your mouth is.

You can be mad at us for being on the bubble, but stop comparing us to Notre Dame. They have lost at least 15 games 3 times in 4 years

If Pomeroy has ND where he does I think his metrics say they are better.
I don’t think they are better but I was just responding to that.

I just want a friggin season we are relevant as a team being solid top 25.

Just to clarify, you are saying that the HOF coach is unaware of the importance of the point guard in college basketball. Interesting hill to die on I will give you that.

So we ignore the evidence?

There is overwhelming evidence that clearly demonstrate he knows a thing or two about guards and their importance to the success of a basketball team. He's not perfect and a few recruiting cycles get messed up, yet he still wins games.

I love it. Harder schedule the better. More opportunities for Tier 1/2 wins. I hate being desperate for a resume-building win and there’s no or few opportunities.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it, think we'll know right away from our OOC schedule how good we'll be this year

Up until a very few years ago, Pomeroy didn't start rating teams until games had been played. Now, he is carrying over statistics from year to year. That requires projecting the impact of incoming recruiting classes, of experienced players snatched from the portal; and guessing which returners have (or haven't) progressed. I'm sure he has a statistical model that measures all of these factors, but, to me, it still seems like there's a lot of guesswork here.

Better than everyone here projecting every player on the roster is going to be better than their capable of.

For sure, like every model it has some flaws. Won't get a more accurate representation until some games are played

He must not be too good since he has Seton hall at #50 and they added the worlds greatest NBA prospect to some talent they already had. You would think they would be higher
