43,101 LSU attendance

People spread out.

I guess. And I think I read this above. I would absolutely agree with the idea of putting in "seats", though I am not sure if there is a enough room for seats, if it brought capacity down to 44-45K then IMO

Just win more and people will show up.

Nobody has faith in this program or head coach right now

Nobody as in you and Tbonezone? Even the people who were doubters at the beginning of the year have changed their tune.

Here's my concern. We had 43000. I'll give LSU 8000. That means we, SU, only had 35000. Maybe that's the current cap.

If they are 5-1 the next home game and the young guns look good there will be at least 43K in the stands.

By "nobody" i meant the casual fans who have been away for years. Wasn't talking about myself or this board

Have to figure expecting a beat dowm turned some away maybe 1k casuals

Ive been to Pitt 3 times and Cuse brings a little over 1000. BC is typically more.
Pitt was the smallest cuse contigent (away game) I have seen. Alot more at NC state. Wake. USF, BC and I think we will do well at UVa if were 4-1

agreed.. we still had more than 1k though last couple times i went to Heinz field.

Why would you like to accommodate people who show up once a year? From a financial perspective SU is way better off at 44k than 50k. You have more control over ticket prices.

I rather be like Oregon. No one makes fun of them for only having 54k compared to other major programs having 100k. They can say they have sold out every game in the 2000s how many schools can say that? From a prestige concern there is no difference between 44k and 49250. Plus 44k has meaning.
I'd prefer the extra 5K, but we haven't approached selling it in a long time. I've seen posts saying there have only been a handful of actual sellouts in the entire history of the Dome, mostly in the first season or so.

If it's going to be reduced, maximize the symbolism - make the capacity 44,044. Come up with a marketing scheme to honor the "Last 44" when there is a sellout with prizepacks, Jumbotron time (no kissing, of course), sideline passes, etc. Determine them by last tix sold, random drawing of one or two seats per section, season ticket seniority, or whatever.

Realistically what would we have gotten for our games thus far this year if our program had been like Wisconsin the last few years and if the Dome was 44k or 50k? IMO it would be:

Rhode Island - I think you sell out a 44k Dome, but it would be difficult. A 50k Dome would have 7-8k empty seats. Remember that in the 90s we didn't play 1AA teams. Remember we used to get plenty of 42k games when McNabb was here.

Wake and CMU - I think it would be the same as Rhode Island. At 44k you can push the allure of selling out. Otherwise you get around 42k for these games. Which makes a 50k stadium too big.

LSU and Clemson - I think we sell out LSU and could sell out Clemson at a 50k Dome.

Pitt and BC - we sell out a 44k Dome for sure. A 50k Dome I think we see around 45-46k for both. Again no need for the bigger stadium.

So of the 7 games we would only really need significantly more than 44k twice. And that is a good year where we have a program at Wisconsin's level. More often than not we will have worse teams than that. Those years we need even less seats. So people really want a 50k stadium atht will only be filled twice a year SHOULD we have a good team?

I attended and the crowd was great throughout! Seemed like closer to 8K LSU fans, but I'll defer to those who are better at estimating that me.

Only issue I had was in the 2nd quarter, for a real brief period, their fans were able to get together in an L-S-U chant. I was so pissed that the Cuse faithful didn't drown them out quickly, but I think it was during a point where most were readying themselves for the 2nd half and were caught by surprise. I didn't have many LSU fans in my section, though I wish there were at least a handful because I would have liked to interact with them more personally. I will say though, that their fans outside at the tailgates, and even after the game, were very respectful and courteous.
