44 Block Party - pre FSU

senior folk may join hotel syracuse if we have never been there, or just do our own tailgate, as usual. however you r right, it should be a riot for the under 35 group

The AD staff actually borrowed the idea from FSU. Great move. Credit the mayor’s office for supporting this 100%. I hope everyone goes and this becomes an annual event downtown..

Did this come out of the fan council? I forgot the official name of the group.

44 Block Party | Syracuse, NY

Friday September 14, armory square. Should be a riot.
Great idea. Wish they would do this type of thing on game day in Armory. Make it a huge block party every ACC home game. Start the train back up, the 44 Express. If local government would get involved, and SU would pony up some dough, while securing sponsors, this could be an amazing long term coming together of SU fans that simply can't really happen on the hill.

The train faces a long uphill battle. The track is in bad shape, the railroad company doesn't have deep pockets. Need to find a space near Armory Square to load passengers. I gotta think the only way we see it come back is a Federal/State grant. Sad as downtown is so much more vibrant than 10-15 years ago.

The train is dead.

The school, Centro, and the City need to figure out traffic routing to support dedicated routes for buses and ride sharing up the hill that is reasonably efficient.

The dome is it for at least the next 40 years, if the program is going to be viable the school needs to figure out a better way to get people onto the hill that doesn't involve cars desending on an ever more congested and isolated area at the same time.

Just wanted to get this thread going again. Ads should start pumping heavy after Wagner game.

knowing SU marketing we will start hearing as around wed the 12th and then continue on thru tues the 18th...

Isnt there a pre-game party/tailgate at Hotel Syracuse before every home game? Can anyone comment on the experience? I'm particularly interested in how well it works taking the bus from there to the dome. Looking to bring a family member to the SU game who has recently dealt with some back issues and am trying to keep the walking to a minimum while also getting the timing right. Thanks in advance.

I did the pregame party and took the shuttle from Shaughnessy's for a game last year where the weather was too cold and wet for the wives and girlfriends for tailgating. Definitely a fun atmosphere, although everything was inside as opposed to the usual setup out on the street due to the weather.

The wait to take the shuttle up to the Dome was a bit long, as the buses have to deal with all of the traffic in the University area. If my drunken brain remembers correctly, the buses travel up Adams to University and drops you off on Waverly by the Schine Center. Pickup is back in this location, so there is still a bit of a hike to and from the Dome, and not on flat ground, but it's not too bad.

My crew usually does this party. Definitely a good time when its nice outside to have overflow into the streets where they have food trucks and beer stands set up. Sometimes they have a band playing outside as well. Definitely not a short or flat walk however. You may want to look at Skytop, those shuttles give a flat walk to the dome. If your guest has a handicap pass, they have in the past had a separate handicap bus that goes right to one of the gates.
