I have been a fan of Cuse ball since the 70's, & I learned a long time ago to cherish the great moments, & try to keep a perspective on the bad moments. I am sure many of us for decades have faithfully followed Syracuse into the abyss when we had so many close calls with immortality, only to see it vaporize on a jump shot or against a semi-pro opponent. 2003 has changed my entire outlook on this game, & I refuse to go back & relive the pain. I will enjoy every season just as much as that one, because it brought me so much joy on that spring night. All of the negative emotion that was building up inside of us was released into the deepest pits of HELL that fateful evening, & I will NOT go down there to fish that garbage back out from the slimiest lava lakes flowing in HADES !!!
I can savor this record breaking year without enduring the negative overtures of malcontents who expect us to surpass the legends of UCLA. It may seem like a mere cliche, but to accentuate the positive is truly a man's best friend, especially in darker times.
With that said, I do feel very bad for these boys, many of which had to fight through the last few years of disappointment, without realizing their realistic goal of Championship glory. Sometimes it's better to have lower odds. For us, the fans, we will have many more chances to witness glory, because we don't have a 4 year term limit. For the senior leaders on this team, it's a dream unmet, & for this, I weep...
