A look at Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome wish list and Pete Sala’s big dream

Tom - We have seen drawings of the Dome with what I presume is the crown truss.

Is that what the Dome will look like when the project is completed or is that the way it will look before the new roof is installed?
Yes.

I think this is the finished product:

They are putting up brown fixtures up top today, which apparently are temporary. They will be used to help get the permanent steel in place and properly installed.

Thinking how great a night game will look with the stadium filled with orange lights like Georgia did.

Every game should be a night game

Lets put a few smallish solar panels in between a few trusses and then install orange colored LED lights on the top ring... Call this thing the Orange Halo... ie The Halo Dome

Yeah it just looks bad with the existing cement walls
I take it that a new facade on the outside walls isn't in the phase 2 discussions. Probably something that was brought up but a low priority.

I think the only place a new façade was brought up was on this forum by posters.

Well if they are at least considering concourse expansion of some sort it doesn’t make sense to dress up the concrete.

How about the roof being illuminated orange with the roller coaster being lit in blue?
I saw some other pictures of this stadium some with the purple lighting others with clear lighting...maybe they could do OBO. ;)

Pete Salas was the guest speaker at banquet I attended (actually I was the MC) at the Sheraton a couple of weekends back. In addition to renovations to The Dome, he discussed the renovation to the Student Center, plans for new student housing, The Arch (WOW!) and other projects. If you ever get a chance to see him give a presentation, I highly recommend it.

Anyone concerned we may lose some home field advantage (sound wise) with this? The roof will be higher, creating more space for noise to travel and therefore making the dome slightly quieter. Also, no idea if it would, but the hot air may affect sound. As well as the current dome material. I have seen articles in the past that states the material reverberates sound very well. No idea how this new material will work. I guess I’m worried we may lose some home field advantage with these upgrades. Anyone have thoughts?

Im glad we are doing the upgrades.

I think in the End Pete will do the best job anyone could cause that’s his baby. He puts more time and energy into that place that anyone can imagine. He is a great guy who cares about that place. Really smart and on the ball as I have heard from a lot of my crane buddies who work for him.
