Kingz is efficient and doesn’t force things. He doesn’t need the ball. A perfect compliment to this lineup.
Watching the tape I see different threes here compared to last year. Jake mentioned this in another thread but Kings isn’t a creator he needs the ball in the flow of the offense. Work the ball to Freeman kick it out and swing it around for spot up open three. On the break find him for a trailing 3 or on the wing for a three. Right now I think he is dribbling too much before his three point shot. If he does have to dribble I would rather not see him take to a pull up three but get to the basket which he seems to do well.
He has tape at the P4 level so I am not going to critique his form or anything like that because it clearly works for him as he has proved it before. I think his issue is just how and where he his getting his 3 point shots.
almost as if the shot isn’t coming off his fingers right and too much palm (Insert joke here). But it’s causing a bit of a line drive. Think he just needs to shoot and not think about it. It’s a really slow shot at the moment. Looks like he’s trying to set his legs and it seems and go step by step. Hopefully he figures it out.his mechnics are off...his shooting motion is reluctant and not fluid...seems to pause a bit on the way up and doesnt seem to be squared up to the rim...gives the vibe he doesnt really wanna shoot (at least thats what i noticed in the drexel game)
It is puzzling that there's a disconnect between how good it sounded like he was fitting in preseason and what his play on the court has been. He's also 6th in FGA/game on the team, not counting for when JJ comes back. His inefficiency this year has been muted a bit because of the lack of volume of shots.
I think shooting in the flow of the offense will start to happen more naturally when we play harder teams. Anyone that can shoot 40%+ from three in any single year in D1 should just focus on being a poor man's Klay Thompson (for this level, Klay is a top 5 shooter of all time). Move, learn how to hit a three coming off a screen going left and going right. Be able to use a ball fake. Stuff like that.
Kingz also plays D, boards, etc. So he is filling gaps in other ways.
The dude shot 42% last year. Give him a beat to integrate in for his shooting, because at this point, we'll need what his ceiling brings more than JJ's since we have backfilled him already.
I don’t think it helps it feels like the last guy we look for in half court sets. Going back to exhibitions he’s had multiple games where he hasn’t touched the ball at least 5-6 possessions in a row.

yeah its so slow. idk what it is but it looks like hes going to miss when he shootsalmost as if the shot isn’t coming off his fingers right and too much palm (Insert joke here). He is a proven shooter. He hasn't forgotten how to shoot. It looks more like he is currently struggling with confidence and fitting into the rhythm of the offense that has other options. He needs to stay aggressive, keep shooting, and look for ways to score. Getting 3s in the transition offense could be a key.It is puzzling that there's a disconnect between how good it sounded like he was fitting in preseason and what his play on the court has been.
That said, I feel like once he has a game where he hits a good 3-4 threes he turns the corner and doesn't look back.
He’s #1 on the team in Evan Miya’s player efficiency metrics. Kingz will be playing a whole lot, and his 3-point shooting numbers are bound to improve significantly.Kingz is the one player who hasn't seem to fully integrate yet with the overall structure of the team's offensive concept. Everyone else has "fit in," so to speak.
Given how shooting-challenged we are overall, it would be great to get him integrated / comfortable. If he doesn't improve, then we could see a situation where a guy like Anthony steals minutes [and maybe a starting role] at the 3, when JJ returns.
Not predicting that will happen, but it could.
