Might be overthinking it, but when first year 4~stars like Barnes portal out, should that negatively impact our previous year’s recruiting ranking? And vice versa when players portal in?
Many moving parts when players are portaling in or out to really get a fix on a recruiting class now. I mean the percentages must be ridiculously low on recruits who make it all the way thru w/their original team for the full 4 or 5 years.
Anyone care to do the calculations for SU? I’d be curious to see what percentage of players stuck here for their full career.
In this Brave New World where rosters are reconstituted every season, it’s difficult, or even naive, to try and rank a recruiting class 2 or 3 years in.

YES. You are very much overthinking it. ;)

NO. It would be a fool's errand to "re-rank" a class, AFTER it was signed.

Recruiting class rankings are just what you bring in for each class. I don't think reranking a previous class makes sense. But I think It would be interesting to also see a separate Net Class Ranking that would subtract out what you lost for the year as well.

That really doesn't make sense, because a player like Iffy who was given an 83, we know how off that was after the fact. That why you take the rankings with a grain of salt. The only rankings you question are Rutgers, because how can a school be ranked as high as they have been. And yet be consistently terrible.

Many players are chasing bags every year and playing at 3 to 4 different schools. Look at the box scores and look at player stats. It's silly.

If I’m understanding the transfer portal rankings correctly, the outgoing players factor into that ranking on 247.
