So,
Except for BC and Virginia Tech every other ACC team this year is running the zone D more than they have in the past. Miami actually has run it over 50% more than they ran it last year. So it follows that teams are getting better (or will have to get better) against the zone, which will start chipping away at the Orange's long-held advantage. Duke actually has faced it nearly 25% of the time this year, up from less than 9% last year. Duke is going to be a huge problem, Pitt actually has historically played well against the zone anyway, so we're in for a tough few games.

Not sure if troll.

Comparing other team's playing the 2-3 zone, is like comparing our zone to Eastern Michigan. Our zone will always be different because of the athletes we have and our 100% commitment to it (and therefore our ability to be more flexibile within it)

Miami playing the zone 50% of the time makes it officially half-assed

the league is 0 for 10 against the real thing
Um, that doesn't make sense pal. That makes the zone half-assed? The D you love? Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Full commitment is the first key to success.

playing it half the time is . . . well, no need to repeat myself

You actually run it 94% of the time, not 100% of the time. And other teams have great athletes. Stop breaking your arm patting yourself on the back. Bo was ahead of his time but time is catching up with him. You'll see.

There's a quite a difference between playing against teams that dabble in the zone and facing the zones SU has put out there the last five years or so.

There is, but give the other teams 5 years. 'Cuse's D will be commonplace and they'll be one of many running it.

By the way, how many great one on one defenders in the NBA went to Syracuse.....um, none? Wonder why?

It's not like these guys didn't know how to play against a zone defense until they got to college. The issue that teams have against us is with our unique brand of the zone which no other team executes as well, along with the amazing athletes that we're now signing consistently to play in it.

You could even look at the flip side and say that ACC players who've gone against other zones will feel a false sense of security about their ability to go against ours, we see this mentality in opposing fans all the time.

The whole zone trope is getting a little annoying to me.

A) our offense has been better than our defense this year. This is not a freak occurrence; this is the 12th year Pomeroy is tracking this stuff, our offense has ranked higher than the D 8 times in 12 years.
B) We don't have this record of outperforming our seed in tournaments, despite the idea that teams "aren't ready for our zone"

To the extent that our defense is good, to me, it has a hell of a lot more to do with the fact that we have really good players then the type of defense we play. Kansas plays man to man; lots of teams in the Big 12 play man to man, KU has won the conference a million years in a row because they have the best players and the best coach.

Bo ran a 4.12 40. Next case.

You mad Bro?

This is like criticizing a team with bad outside shooters for not taking 3's most of the time.

If your going to troll at least make some sense.

So where are you from, the Boneyard or Pitt?

If it was easy to replicate SU's zone, lots of teams would already be doing it.

The Big East saw our zone for 33 years in a row and we did OK.
