ACC tournament projection v. 2.0

eh Clemson rocked us from the tip too... but yeah I hear you - just feel like we need to get the most bang for our buck in our opening game of the acct - we need q1 wins
Unless Duke boatraces UNC on Saturday they’re going to be a Q2 on a neutral. So I’d rather play State and just get to FSU/UVA.

Yeah I get it. To me it comes down to who I'd be more confident beating. A lesser win for a chance at a second win is still better than losing first game.

ahh, didn’t realize dook would prob only be a q2 as a neutral foe... yeah in that case we def want NC st

If UNC loses, they would be 9-7, just like us. And I don't think anyone else would have that record. So that would mean a 2-way tie. And the Heels win the tiebreaker, because they beat FSU.
They beat FSU and lost FSU once. 1-1 is the same as 0-0. So moving to the next tie breaker- VA Tech.

when you have a 3 way tie dont yoi break it and then start the tie breaker over?

Syracuse wins a tiebreaker with Clemson since we beat Virginia Tech and they didn’t.
Syracuse wins a tiebreaker with UNC because we beat NC State twice and they didn’t.

Syracuse would finish 2nd in a 3
Way tiebreaker with UNC and Clemson.
We went 2-2 against them
UNC went 1-2
Clemson went 2-1.

If you want to avoid Duke in the first round root for UNC to beat Duke.
We would get Nc State in the 8-9 game.

If Duke wins we likely jump UNC.

Duke CAN NOT pass us because our win percentage will better than them win or loss.
9-7 .560
10-8 .556

We won’t fall below 8 if we don’t play another game.
Thanks Alsacs!
Great job with the colors. You are maintaining a fine board tradition. I'm sure Marsh would be pleased if he was to look through the board.

On this site, you can project each game and come up with the simulated bracket.

Clemson-Pitt
UNC-Duke

If Clemson and Duke win…

7. UNC
8. Cuse
9. Duke
10. NCST

If Clemson and UNC win…
7. Louisville
8. Cuse
9. NCST
10. Duke

If Pitt and Duke win
7. Cuse
8. UNC
9. Duke
10. NCST

If pitt and UNC win
7. Clemson
8. Cuse
9. NCST
10. Duke
If we want to win 2 games we need to get to the 7 line.

Selfishly, I want a matchup with Louisville. Always fun in the conference tourney and its not a year of cuse basketball anymore to me without that bad blood matchup

I am concerned if Duke beats UNC, the Syracuse-Duke game will be considered a 'play in' game for the NCAA tournament. I can see Lunardi and others doing this. It makes it a lot easier to finish your brackets doing those types of things.

At this point, if there is going to be an 8th team from the ACC, it is going to be Duke or Syracuse.

Anyway, put me in the camp that does not want to play Duke with an NCAA bid on the line with a game being played in Greensboro. Unfortunate we are likely going to have to play in front of a lot of Duke or NC State fans playing in their own backyard.

But that is par for the course during this crazy year.

If we want to win 2 games we need to get to the 7 line.

Whatever puts on the other side of the bracket from Virginia is what I want.

I don’t want any part of UVA before a final.

We have the tiebreaker over UNC, right? The tiebreaker is record against best common opponent and you have to go all the way down to Clemson to break it. We went 1-1 and UNC went 0-1.

So if Clemson beats Pitt we're locked into State in the first round because if UNC wins we're the 8 and Dook falls to the 10 or if UNC loses we rise to the 7 and get State as the 10.

I am confused on the Florida State tiebreaker some say it plays others don’t.
I can’t see the ACC doing that in this season.
If Clemson loses we are locked into the 7 seed I believe.

We want Duke to lose as I want NC State. We can exploit their small guards without offense.

I believe you are wrong about Florida State. The most recent documented tie breaking procedure for the ACC (from 2017) includes the following clause:

2) When comparing records against a single team or a group of teams, the higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against a team or group is unequal (e.g., 2-0 is better than 3-1; 1-0 is the same as 2-0; 2-1 is the same as 4-2; 1-0 is better than 1-1; 0-1 is the same as 0-3). If the winning percentage of the tied teams is equal against a team or group of tied teams, continue down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.
