According to this, Michigan has four 1st round picks this year.

Pretty sure McGary already said he's coming back

Nice to see Brandon getting a little attention!

And we have a total of three first round picks between this year and next and we have two second round picks.

This Michigan team is definitely talented, but they're still young. McGary and Robinson are just freshman and haven't peaked yet, and at this point in their careers I would take CJ over Robinson any day twice on Sunday. McGary is really impressive, a bull in a china shop, reminds me of a young Bill Laimbeer. Have to keep him off the offensive glass tomorrow...

Exactly why I think we have the edge on Saturday. Michigan has talent, but 3 of their 5 starters are Fr. and our Jrs and Srs will eat them up. Other than McGary and Horford, they have less size. Morgan at 6-8 will see some minutes.

Sr. and Jr. 4 Star level talent is usually better than 5 Star Fr. talent. Plus we have MCW, a lottery pick.

I don't put much stock in the upper classmen will perform better than freshmen theory... Seems we heard that a lot 10 years ago... But then our freshman forward scores over 50 points in the Final Four, and our freshman point guard shoots 6 3-pointers in the first half of the National Championship game...
Don't get me wrong, I fully expect us to beat Michigan, but it's not going to be because we have juniors and seniors and they have freshmen...

Although I disagree, I like your answer - well supported. You will note I wrote USUALLY. Indeed, when your frosh include the likes of Carmello and GMac, no seasoned team will prevail. In 100 yrs of SU basketball, that kind of final 4 talent has come along once.

Otherwise, experienced / seasoned talent trumps hot-shot raw talent nearly every time. Unless you are UK and can flood the floor with them and even then it does not always prevail.

When we have veteran talent, it's veteran talent that is important, when we have freshmen, experience doesn't matter.

The Kansas team we beat had really good veteran talent; Collison and Hinrich were seniors that year, and they're still in the NBA a decade later. Melo was obviously an incredible player as a frosh, but I wouldn't consider Gerry to be better than the average good freshmen player or anything. (though 6 three's in the first half might say differently)

I dunno, the only thing I'm taking from this is that experience trumps talent, except when it doesn't.

Our 03 team basically played 8 guys, and 6 were frosh or soph. Michigan plays 3 freshmen, just like we do. They don't quite rely on them to the extent that we did, since Burke is a Soph and he's pretty much the best player in the country, and the other starting G is a junior.

If we win, I don't think it will be because our guys are older.

It may not be because our guys are older, but a factor could certainly be that their relative youth and inexperience to a new and different situation causes poor decisions.
We have seen instances where it looks like the other team has a hard time figuring things out.

Some youthful generalizations like inexperience, impatience, and frustration could factor in. I think what a lot of us are hoping to see is the mental aspect of the new situation lead to poor decisions which then could help bring in frustration and impatience.
