Adrian Autry Joining UVA Staff

The slot for Autry opened at UVa when Griff Aldrich, probably Odom's top assistant, became the head coach at Pepperdine.
what are the folks down there saying about Autry joining staff?

Reaction is pretty positive I’d say.

For those of you who are interested, UVA (and thus Charlottesville) is generally considered part of the “commonwealth of Virginia” or “Central Virginia” but never part of the DMV. The DMV generally only includes Washington DC and the immediate close suburbs of DC that are in Maryland (Montgomery County and Prince George County) and a few parts of Northern Virginia that are close to DC:
  • Arlington
  • Alexandria
  • Fairfax County
  • Loudoun County
  • Prince William County
Interstate 495 (the Capital Beltway) is often seen as the "center" of the DMV. People frequently distinguish between being "Inside the Beltway" (closer to DC) versus "Outside the Beltway."

All that said, there is not one strict definition that everyone holds to. It is more of a culture thing. But you would most definitely be corrected if you spoke to someone from the DMV and you mentioned Charlottesville as being part of it.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming!!

PS: I just re-read this and I sound like I’m being a bit of an a$$. It truly wasn’t my intention. I thought of the DMV as DC, Maryland and Virginia until I got down here.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming…
I think when people here talk about the DMV they mean in terms of recruiting and proximity, not actually being part of it. At least that is how I think about it.

does Virginia play here next year? I think so, we got blown out there this year I believe.

As an aside, can anyone think of an example (college or pro sports), where a coach was fired, and then immediately came back as an assistant coach of that team?
Pretty sure in football it just happened at Virginia tech. Head coach replaced and stayed on as the DC.

Does lefew follow him in the portal? Whoops I mean Donnie. Looks like UVA got their engelstad

The 2026-27 season game should be in the Dome, assuming we play. Last season we didn't play Clemson, so there's no telling who will get dropped this coming season.

we lost to Clemson 61-64 in the ACC opener, I think it was New Year's Eve Day at the Dome.

We didn't play Stanford
wow, didn’t realize we didn't play every conference opponent every year. It's nuts, in the old, old Big East we had a home and away with every team, it was glorious.
