OK may be something different from the 76 threads about Red's seat temperature and NIL or talent debate.

Does anyone think AI will have a role, any role in X & O in game coaching?

I mean imagine this scenerio, where AI is used to review and analyze your next opponent, and clips and videos are being compartmentalized and shown to individual players on opponent players' tendencies, strengths and weaknesses.

In real time during games, every player on team is being fitted with an ear piece that won't fall off on body contact, like an airpod or even a nano sized implant. AI is used to analyze the court and each player is hearing instructions on where to stand, where to move to what to anticipate. AI calls each and every play.

and the opponent also using their AI to work against ours.

do you see that day coming?

When Skynet becomes self-aware, none of this will matter.

Reading Superintelligence by Nick Bostrom right now...

It's not a question of IF, but when.

The real question is will the superintelligence behave benevolently towards humans or go cold-hearted calculating bitchazz like the architect in the matrix.

The carbon unit infestation will be removed from the creator's planet.

It would probably do a better job than whatever transfer model they're trying to build

I just asked Grok how to beat Syracuse and Grok thinks we still play a 2-3 zone.

We could incorporate AI into our offensive and defensive schemes.

After that all we need to do is outfit all of our coaches with the Jensen Jacket and Syracuse's market cap will rocket! The shinier the better.

AI is way overrated in the scope of what it is an effective tool for. It’s not as smart as people make it out to be and is still very limited and requires calibration to work effectively.

That’s not to say it doesn’t have a great deal of value where it’s been adequately integrated. It’s just not the “ throw it out there” plug and play tool that it is too often referred to as.

I think it will be used in sports where there are lots of starts and stops. Coaches will use it to help determine what play to run in each scenario. It'll be a tool, not a silver bullet. Keep in mind that they'll be using it on both sides of the ball so not sure it'll give anyone an edge.

Well AI is being used in full self driving.

It's got sensors seeing ahead and back and 360 reacting in real time to vehicles from all sides traffic lights parked cars, pedestrians, skate boarders bicyclists, parked cars, double parked cars, baby strollers, animals, rain snow or shine, during the day or night, construction signs and emergency vehicles etc etc etc, basically real time chaos resolution and self learning. It's not in the future but it's here, Tesla robotaxi is scheduled to deploy in June 2025 in select states.

I am just thinking about the complexity of the FSD problem versus activities that happen within the four lines of a basketball court, to me it's seems doable, not that I am advocating for it but to me it seems plausible. At least you don't need to buy out the contract if an AI coach hahaha.

AI will be used to prep for opponents and analyze player performance. I’m sure it already is.

The earpiece stuff and real-time X’s and O’s stuff? Not anytime soon. Sometime before I die? Yeah, maybe; but just about everything in life over that timeframe is a ‘yeah, maybe.’

The question is less about could we do it and more about would we do it.

At some point, yes, AI could be used in some way like what you’re describing. It’s a matter of finding a business case for it, though. On the surface, AI coaching and real-time communication in players’ heads doesn’t seem like it would help viewership and seems unsporting, since ‘thinking the game’ without a coach’s input is part of being an athlete. Playing sports is meant to be more than going where you’re told to go.

As a cost savings measure, I’m not sure it would be much cheaper, if at all. Like with most tech advancements, costs mainly just shift elsewhere.

When you get hit by a self driving car, is it a block or a charge?
