I didn't have 5.1 blocks for Akok. I had 3.1 and that's also what I typed.

But I did go back over his numbers and found one error: he missed 1.5 free throws per 40 minutes, not 1.3, reducing his NP/40 to 15.2.

Akok has zero physicality to his game. He’s not going to bang with the bigs in the ACC. I would pass.

Ballard is a good shot blocker too and bigger.

But I agree, Akok would contribute more offensively. And he can play some at the 4 with Jesse. Would give us a chance to use a big lineup that really wouldn't work with Quincy, or Frankie for that matter.

Having a backup center who can also fill in at the 4 would really be nice for us, given how unproven and inexperienced we will be at the forward positions.

His efficiency on the defensive end as a 4 will be key too. We got scoring and rebounding from Jimmy/Cole but to improve we need a decent quicker defender there.

AO was 40% and Derek Brower was 43%. Impossible in a close game with 3 minutes to go to have Quincy on the court shooting 30% from the FT stripe. Of course, he could always learn how to run away from the opponents like Brower did.
But seriously, expecting any minutes from him at crunch time if Jesse fouls out is not realistic.

I can see that. Definitely times over the years where you look at Hurley and it's clear he was confused about what to do with Akok.

Yanking around with the rotation, etc.

Yeah, realistically, the UConn fan said Akok often didn't know where to go, but a long, twitchy guy like this just drops down to the middle and is usually pretty well positioned for us.

Not a lot of confusion unless he's gotta run out to defend the corner three I guess.
