must mean coaches must reallllllllly doubt QG increasing his production much from last season

edit: unless that "realllllllly" is just your opinion and not what you heard from coaches
Could it mean that they reallllllly doubt Big Bad Bobby Braswell will be healthy enough to contribute and they really want a 3rd forward that's not a converted 5 in Jesse Edbol Ajak?

It doesn't have to mean that. Replacing Hughes is going to be a big feat the more hands on deck the better. Having a guy who avg 9 ppg in 18 min and shooting 40 pct from 3 in the best conference is a huge get.

I mean yeah Griffin is a helluva player we're getting, a key addition no doubt - but the way that post is worded makes it out to be:
with Griffin = tourney team ... without Griffin = losing season

and I don't see that as accurate

I.dont know that it's that drastic but I think its safe to say we really need him next year.

I mean I’d rather replace Eli with a guy with one of the best offensive ratings in the country and not have to worry as much about Quincy putting in 12-14 per game. Our offense will be downright scary if everyone steps forward and AG can anything close to that effective offensively in an increased role. We need this waiver.

Sort by ORTG and his usage rate was one point off of Buddy’s for comparison

Coaches still believe he will get the waiver...checks all the boxes to get one during the pandemic. Closer to home is a huge factor that is checked.

Also, we don't want him to sit out. We have a better chance of him staying for 2 if he plays this year vs him starting to play in 2021

Plus we realllllllllly need him this year
Anyone who wants him to sit a year is the type of person who routes to make the NIT finals instead of being a bubble team

Haven’t heard that direct “statement” from my guy but us rolling out a forward trio of Q, Marek and Bras...might be our worst crop of forwards I can remember

I honestly dont see us making the ncaa’s without him.

Kid is a legit difference maker. We need him to be eligible. I'm guessing he will be. (NCAA dont us.) Juzang got his waiver. Griffin "should" get his waiver.
Anyone know when we will find out griffs waiver status?

maybe you're right about Griffin and our "need" for him, we'll see in time...
but what exactly are you basing the bolded statement on? first off you're leaving out Woody. then, how do you know what the three others are going to look like/be capable of this year compared to last? if Braswell is healthy who knows how good he can be. if QG has a tad more confidence and just a bit of polishing who knows how good he can be. if Marek puts it all together as a senior leader who knows how good he can be.
these declarative statements before a season are always just funny to me

Woody isn't playing next year so let's set that record straight. He's skinner than Marek. He needs a year or two.

But name a worse trio of forwards? I like Marek's game and we're going to need his facilitator more than anything next year but a senior forward at SU should damn near be dominate and he isn't.

I'm not putting much "stock" in the summer growths this year because who knows if we're even going to have summer sessions or run time for these guys to get better.

I'm mindblown that you don't really see a need for a eli clone who may be a better shooter than him...to absolutely play next year. Our forwards can't shoot well, we need his shooting.

I think actually both Marek and Guerrier are going to be really good.

i think if Marek is given the green light to score, he could be a serious force and the biggest leap kids make is from freshman to sophomore year in QG.
Yep. With Marek good things happen when he's aggressive on the offensive end. Guerrier had times last season where he looked like a force. Even if he doesn't get much better, but plays more consistently, he can be a plus player.

I think it's really the 3rd forward that's a mystery. Can Woody contribute before he's really expected to? Can Braswell be healthy and make good on his potential? Is Griffin eligible? Can one of the centers play some forward minutes in a pinch?

I like our players, there are just some question marks. If a few hit, we look even better.

I’m sure the hand injury last summer stunted that growth. I’ll have higher expectations for him shooting the rock this year when he’s able to work all summer

I mean I think he can reach CJ Fair levels, but that's not enough IMO. If we don't have another knockdown wing shooter, we are asking Buddy to be 2013-14 Cooney.

ding ding ding...but u know, it's a wait and see from certain posters
lol nice.
so you're saying it's not a "wait and see" with regard to how good/impactful the 3 returning forwards are? Of course Griffin is *needed*, that goes without saying considering what we lose in Hughes and how quickly the coahces went after a transfer shooting 3 to replace him - I'm just wondering how extensive that need is vis a vis SU being a good team this coming season.
and if you feel the need to call me out have the guts to do it directly to my posts
