I heard that Cooper and Eduoard both spoke with Dom Timbers and Andrey Baskin and that's what got these balls rolling. Rumor has it that Bob Wiley wanted them both to play OG. Just an FYI.

Because it's a 17-18 year old kid that has clearly been excused from the program for the time being for a reason neither coach nor player wants to disclose. Would you want people speculating about your son or daughter on a message board?

Sorry, but no. Stop charging me money to see the kid play. Stop asking me for money to build the building the kid will practice in. Do that, and maybe I'll stop wondering what's up.

Of, BTW, the program should worry when people stop caring about the whereabouts of players with big potential.

I was under the impression Dale Peterman set up a group chat.

expand on your thoughts. Is it because you think the kid is that good or is it because of his recruiting circle? Or both?
Assuming that Hunt is our starter for this year and next, and plays at a high level, then we want his replacement to be a Marvin Graves type, a difference maker who can take us to the next level as a program. From a pure talent perspective, Edouard could be that guy. He would get the nod as a RSo, his third year in the program, by which time he would know the playbook and be physically ready.

Kimble and Wilson are not at the same level. They may be fully competent guys who win games for us, but we need to be poised to take off.

We're not recruiting a QB this year. If Edouard doesn't make it back to SU, then our next best hope for that game changer will be one of the guys we are recruiting for next year... who would have to take the reins as a RFr. Graves did it, so did McNabb, so it's not out of the question. And we are involved with some good ones. But I would much rather have Edouard as the heir apparent than someone who isn't even yet a verbal commit.

Whether it’s homesickness, a kid, family members, sickness etc, I believe the staff is doing right by letting him take as much time he needs. You want to make sure he comes back so you give him time, help him out whatever. He was going to redshirt anyway.

Remember the article about the freshman hanging out at Shafer’s house this summer and how Shaf is trying to help their mental well being? There was a peculiar quote in there about a kid being homesick. I’m surprised nobody picked that out. Maybe it was him. To paraphrase – Shaf asked how everyone was doing, if anyone was homesick etc. They all said no. Shaf said later in the day some other kids came up to him and said “he’s homesick coach” ….. I can’t find the article. Maybe somebody has it or remembers. I’d like to go back and read the exact exchange.
I remember that as well.

Rocco know it was the fact that Bob W wouldnt include them in his magic act that really caused the problem

He's coming back once whatever's going on has been resolved. Stop acting like a child.

You know this is an Internet message board, right? Those of you who pull that "leave these kids alone" card act like we're outside the kid's dorm room with a bullhorn and pitchforks.

Your analogy is pretty wanky. "Outside the kid's room (remember he's gone home) with a bullhorn and pitchforks"?? Huh? Go for it.

You're right- you aren't in a dorm room being Chatty Cathy's guessing why a guy down the hall isn't at school. I doubt you'd be allowed to post your guesses and solicit other people's opinion why - on the dorm's bulletin board either. And again you are so right - this is a public internet message board that you're speculating on someone's private life. It just isn't cool in either place.

I'd say that posting about a kid on a public message board is pretty damn close to that.

It's pretty simple actually, out of the two which do you think the kid would probably notice? I would bet the internet. It's been proven that kids look at these boards.

My last bit of advice: if you have nothing good to say on a kid keep your mouth shut, go yell at a mirror or something.

Idk, I don't think it hurts to question anything. I mean the name of this forum is Syracusefan.com. Its for the FANS, its right in the name of the website for crying out loud. I come here to discuss the teams performance, find out information (which this topic is about), and to form a community with fellow syracuse fans. Granted I love what Shy's father and BJ Johnsons fathers bring to the table, but you also have to understand that our first interest and priority is the team. Thats why we all come to this site, I don't understand why were being told what we should and should not discuss. Eduord is a big part of our future, he was a big time recruit that could be our future starting qb. Not so sure why we shouldn't be worried about him missing valuable time or looking for information. Everyone in the know says he will be the next starting qb after hunt. So I would say this is a pretty important topic, especially with this being valuable time he is missing. Hunt missed spring practice and Marrone said multiple times how much he missed in those 15 practices. Cant remember off the top of my head how many practices he has missed, but he's already missed roughly 14 days of camp.

I like to think of it this way...If a 17 or 18 year old kid is being talked about in a way I wouldn't want my own 17 or 18 year old kid talked about, I consider it crossing a line. You can be a fan of a player and respect their privacy at the same time (one might argue you're a better fan for respecting their privacy). I think questioning what should or shouldn't be talked about is completely legitmate, and just because this is a "fan-board" doesn't mean you have a right to say anything you want about members of the program.

I can't believe I actually have to point this out.

If he's coming back to campus, why does it matter the reason why he's home?

More so when and if he is coming back, but why he is home all of a sudden starts to matter if he is homesick. If people know the anwsers it is up to there discretion to answer if they see fit or not, but I don't understand why the questions can't be asked. It doesn't harm asking. I would disagree with people speculating without any information but I would never tell people to stop asking when he is getting back or if he is coming back if he is that important of a player in the future.

I'm still trying to figure out how it's any of our business on what's going on with the kid.

Why does it matter again? 1) There are things more important than football, and the coaches seem to understand that. 2) If we are looking at it from a football standpoint, while we all want the kid to come back, chances are the program will be ok either way. Knowing those 2 things, we should all stop asking questions that don't matter, stop speculating on what is going on with him, and hope for the best (for the kid in this case, not the team).

Perspective people.

If you keep asking questions, people will invent answers. Wrong answers.

So if we can't speculate, what is the purpose of this board? C'mon--we're not asking who his girlfriend/boyfriend/whomever is--we just want to know if he is going to come back to Syracuse or not. Is that too much to ask?

Then concern yourself with that - not the reason. He and his family and the coaching staff have requested as much.

Either way redshirt this year... Kimble can back up and then can go full bore in spring see if can be Hunts backup for his senior year as a redshirt freshmen.
You mean Wilson.
