I understand Alin Edouard is not currently with the team. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Them losing 3 starters is very helpful for our team, yes. I didn't say anything about the kids but good try.

Nice save, I'll take your word for it.

So, wait a minute...

There is an entire industry based on speculation of these kids in their recruitment as well as their lives and the lives and opinions of their families.

It's OK if we speculate as to what school they will be attending from the time they are 15-16 years old.
It's OK if we interview their mom or dad as to what their thoughts are on what school they will attend. It's also OK for us to pay a service to hear such interviews...of course if you are interested.
It's OK to speculate as to what their grades are and whether or not they qualify.
It's OK to speculate why kids are suspended and some here usually spill some inside info as to actually why kids get suspended for games or seasons.
It's OK to speculate when a kid isn't at practice.
It's OK to speculate as to what their twitter ramblings and emoji's mean from the time they are getting recruited until they graduate college.
It's OK to show them "love" on twitter from the fanbase...thanks twitter army (I find this most disturbing).
It's OK if we lambaste a kid or his family (Ishaq, Kelly and others) for choosing another school for whatever reason and it is OK for us to speculate as to why they had issues. Carry it on for 3-5 years and bring it up every time they have problems.
And So On...

But god forbid we question or speculate as to why a kid that from a fan's perspective is perfect for this program, has all the physical tools, is bright and actually seemingly wants to be at SU.

I am not a speculator personally but I understand why people do. I wait to see what happens, I have no idea and hope that the young man comes back as I do believe that this staff, school and program IMO will be good for him.

But in this case, you are asking water not to be wet.

The difference in every item you've suggested and this one is that Shafer has said that "family reasons" is the reason... And has been tight lipped about it since.

It would seem that important recruits are used to attention and that it comes with the territory. Something Alin and his family probably realize. In this case our head coach has said that we shouldn't speculate. Control the controllables. Let the media be douchey and pry into their lives - as a fan, I will not.

I reject the whole premise of your post that it is "alright" that adults unconnected to these kids do these things..

You clearly didn't read that part about there is a whole industry dedicated to these things. Reject it all you want.

It not only exists and is "OK" but people will pay money for it. I haven't heard of anyone being arrested or being ticketed for anything I mentioned above.

The point is that the kids, families and the fans thrive on it. That is until there is a moment when they don't want fans or reporters to talk about something. In the absence of the actual information, there will be speculation.

On a side note...I work my A$$ off and reject the whole premise of welfare (among other things) but that won't change anything, will it.

As a fan you can do whatever you want to do, others will do what they want. I also don't recall that coach ever said "don't speculate".

You are totally missing the point BTW. These kids, families, recruits, services and coaches can't have it both ways. Speculation and hype are great for the program and the kids...until of course they don't suit their needs or aren't in the plan when something happens.

EDIT: The young man not being in the program currently and the lack of info is what is fueling the speculation.

I think there is a big difference between asking when/if he will return and asking why he is gone. Will he be back = football related. Why he is home = private. I didn't see any posts asking why he is gone, only speculating when or if he will return.

Hey! Stop that! This is an Internet forum. No room for logic or common sense. Get with the program, will ya!?!

;):D;)

Players have left teams in the past. Sometimes they return and sometimes they don't. We can all think of examples of reasons that they left that ultimately led to one outcome or the other. Knowing why he left would allow us to feel good about him coming back or mentally prepare for losing him. Unfortunately, the reason given in this situation is vague enough that it could lead to either outcome and we end up with this thread.

Someone could create an all-encompassing list of possibilities and say If "A", "B", or "C", then we just need to wait it out. But if "D", "E", or "", then it doesn't look too good. Then we wait and see what happens. Intead, individuals are adding items to the list one at a time and posting as if it's what happened rather than as a hypothetical, probably unintentionally in most cases. Then they get called on it, or someone accepts the assumptions and runs with them, etc.

I have no problem with a coach saying "we want our program hyped, but we don't want this kids family life hyped."

Coach has told the media all that they need to know - so my read is that we should be better than the media and not use an Internet forum to talk about it.
