If you keep asking questions, people will invent answers. Wrong answers.

And those are the people who should be yelled at, not the people who bleed orange and are wondering when or if he will come back. He's an important player for our future, I'd be worried if people weren't concerned about this.

I don't like to worry about what an 18 year old kid is going to do. I personally don't think he will be back either way I wish the kid the best whether he continues to wear Orange or not.

I'd say that posting about a kid on a public message board is pretty damn close to that.

I'd say this is a pretty weird thread by now; accusing parties on both sides.

It is perfectly OK to speculate on a top recruit returning to school after he enrolled and left. It is also weird to speculate mental health issues or whatever.

Let's talk about football... Is the QB of the future coming back?

No one knows. Maybe he'll transfer? Maybe he'll be back? Tune in next week.

I'm an Orange football fan. Whoever lines up to play is who I care about. Who doesn't well I wish them well. Why they don't I don't give a cr@p. By gosh, another reason to hate ESPN. I could care less what goes on 'Outside the lines' but I guess some here do. Mind your own bidness.

Admins may want to lock this thread. It's getting a little bit out of hand by some posters.

Your right to speculate is less important to the future of the team than his families right to privacy.

Sorry, but no. Stop charging me money to see the kid play. Stop asking me for money to build the building the kid will practice in. Do that, and maybe I'll stop wondering what's up.

Of, BTW, the program should worry when people stop caring about the whereabouts of players with big potential.

Wondering where he is - that's one thing. He's an important recruit, we're all wondering when he's coming back or if he's coming back.

I hope you're not saying that because you bought a ticket to a game that gives you the right to know what's going on in a player's personal life. You don't have a right to that even if you're buying NFL tickets, let alone college tickets.

No that isn't what I'm saying. What I am saying is that it's a frickin' Internet message board and people need to lighten up when people post questions asking about player's situations/whereabouts. From what I've read, no one insinuated anything egregious. Asking questions isn't a crime let along against any policies of this website.

Because it's a 17-18 year old kid that has clearly been excused from the program for the time being for a reason neither coach nor player wants to disclose. Would you want people speculating about your son or daughter on a message board?

Yet the ND news is awesome. :rolling:

If you don't know and the family wants to keep it that way and the HC wants it that way and no one has any info? Yeah - questions can only do harm to the situation and are at best useless.

Crazy thread...

Personally I hope the kids works through whatever is going on and comes to SU. I don't care to speculate, even if it does seem to be going on for a long time.

On the flip side, if my son decided to play college football in a big boy conference (and was fortunate to be good enough to do so), I'd understand all that comes with it. And speculation by the fanbase is just a part of that. If I didn't want that, my son would be steered away from football long before that.

I'm not steering him away from any high profile sport though, should he want do play. There's always that hope of my retirement plan.

Thanks for clarifying, I'm sure I wasn't the only one that want sure what direction you were going with that. Probably why you got some of the responses that you did :)

IMHO, this is an incredibly important story that has major ramifications for the future of the program. He can't get on campus soon enough for me.
tomcat :i agree, there is more here that what we read---i am not sure the future of the program is at stake, but certainly as i said before, quiet analysis is the order of the day ---much more here, than what we read. twitter responses by the player are one thing----i bet the coaches know, and are doing their best with him---i also agree the less said publicly the better---time for sense and sensibility---

Them losing 3 starters is very helpful for our team, yes. I didn't say anything about the kids but good try.

Your analogy is pretty wanky. "Outside the kid's room (remember he's gone home) with a bullhorn and pitchforks"?? Huh? Go for it.

You're right- you aren't in a dorm room being Chatty Cathy's guessing why a guy down the hall isn't at school. I doubt you'd be allowed to post your guesses and solicit other people's opinion why - on the dorm's bulletin board either. And again you are so right - this is a public internet message board that you're speculating on someone's private life. It just isn't cool in either place.

No one is speculating about his private life and in fact I doubt if anyone really cares about that, we are speculating about football and a very public part of this kids life, whether or not he continues as a SU football player. Why he is gone is merely a peri foral fact that may contribute to his eventual returning or not, which we all have a vested interest in and is all we really give a fat rat about. Once that question is answered I doubt you will hear anything mentioned about why he is gone again.

I hope he returns, but if he does not se la vie. I would however like a more definitive answer to that question. No legitimate answers to questions inevitably lead to speculation. He has caused the questions and our staff is not providing answers(no blame there they probably can not)therefore we are left with one thing, wait for it, Speculation.

Get off your soap box and chill.

Sometimes family and private issues should remain just that...private.
Unfortunately these tweets are open to the world which is something these kids fail to comprehend. Anyone that tweets should be extremely circumspect in what they say.

You are not entitled to the answer. Speculating with no info is pointless.

Your protective attitude does not translate well for an Internet chat forum, where the business model is dependent on speculative posts to drive clicks and ad revenue.

Just sayin...your intent is admirable, but then, why be here?

This could get interesting.

No info is what feeds speculation. I never said we were entitled to anything, that does not change the fact that we would like to know. YPA!

So is this where I jump in and mention he tweeted earlier "everything happens for a reason" because trolling can be entertaining now and then?

EDIT: sorry, the tweet was actually "GOD HAS A PLAN"

The kid verballed to Miami, decommitted, then wanted to re-commit to Miami before committing to Syracuse.

I really want him to be at SU - I think he has the potential to lift our program to spectacular heights - and will not speculate as to what is going on except for the fact that I don't like when any player is away indefinitely from a team.

But given his past history, wouldn't it stand to reason that a fan should feel a little bit uneasy about what's going on? And have the right to voice his/her opinion about it on a fan forum put in place to speculate about the future of the program?

I get the fact some here have inside information - and it is appreciated that they do. But the high-and-mighty act by a few of those same individuals is so tiresome. And creates much more drama than the initial posts that they reply to were intended to.

I care way more about the Syracuse program than the Syracusefan message board. As someone that follows recruiting heavily and sees how prospects read what is being written about them, I do my best to tread lightly on sensitive subjects, this being one.

I'm on this board to discuss information regarding football. Not speculate about family troubles for an 18 year old.
