Allen Griffin to stay on staff

Congrats to Allen.

Wondering if we will see more focus on NYC recruits with new people making the final decision on who we offer?

Though the last 2 HS recruits we have verbals from are from NYC...
I hope so. Love NYC and Philly kids as they're tough. Plus playground ball teaches a completely different set of skills vs the gym.

my whole sense of retaining the entire current staff intact lies is this unfortunate simile...
just imagine a school bus load of kids coming home from summer camp and the old man bus driver suddenly drops dead.well nobody on board has ever driven a car (let alone a bus) and they have to figure out how to maneuver the gears ,work the wheel and brakes and somehow get the bus back home.
these eager newbies might somehow to manage to get the bus back to the garage. but it won't be pretty.
i wish we went out spent the money and hired a real bus driver . next season is gonna be training wheels. let's see how long the honeymoon lasts.

I know this is an old post, but the analogy is completely off. What you're describing is akin to hiring someone that's never coached at all. The more accurate analogy would be that a guy has experience driving a short bus or one of the smaller class C motorhomes and jumps in the seat to take over.

i never saw JB seeking much game input from any of his staff. barely looks at them. his was an autocratic coaching style. bernie fine basically held a clipboard during games for 30 plus years. and hopkins and his other assistant coaches sat on their hands and mostly chewed gum and gave pep talks. sorry but that's not live game time coaching. i am in no way saying red or hop don't understand the game. but they never ever held the wheel here at syracuse..

(unless you count JB'S NCAA suspensions)

Ok. That doesn't change that your analogy is inaccurate. Kids trying to drive a bus would be equal to someone off the street with no experience.

Additionally, you're ignoring all the coaching we don't see. Who do you think is responsible for player development? Was it JB running individual position drills? Did he do all the scouting of upcoming opponents?

JB may not have asked for input during games, but that doesn't mean Red didn't have ideas and opinions. Clearly he's his own coach given how he's expressed in a generalized way what he's going to do differently.

i hope RED does has some NEW ideas cuz frankly what we had was pretty stale. as to the analogy...mario andretti sitting and watching in the back seat ain't mario andretti legend who never drove stick.
we (SU) bought into an untested commodity. let's hope he's a quick study.

(ps i drove tractor at age ten and all of my vehicles have been standard)
i like to pick the gears myself. my tacoma has 240K. original .
NEW BEGINNING...
WE SHALL ALL SEE.

You ain't really drove a stick until you've driven an old 1950s Ford tractor... and had to panic shift out of neutral on a steep hill in the field.

Griff is putting in the work McLeod.
I expect good things from our new big man.

I think he's gonna be a problem... for everyone else. The moment a team wants to put him in constant switching playing small ball we go four guards on their ass with Maliq. Then on occasion go big lineup switching to a 3/4 court press into a zone. Looking forward to a fun team to watch but not a fun team anyone wants to play.

LOL! That's how I learned to drive on our family farm. May have been older than 1950 though.

Yes. Coolest looking tractors ever made given how much the front looks like an old roadster but a nightmare to get into gear lol.

i work construction. can you double clutch ? trying to train a kid today. claims today's kids have no idea what standard means. he told me he even got confused with the faux automatic pick a gear option.
