No sense deleting it. The national media is going to run with this.

The funny thing is, the dart comment could apply to any major D-I school. And the NCAA can poke around the drug stuff all they want, I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that it was up to the universities to establish and enforce a drug policy, no?

Yes let's stick our head in the sand.

These were the UCONN penalities.
Penalties include suspension of the head coach for three conference games during the 2011-12 season, scholarship reductions for three academic years, recruiting restrictions, permanent disassociation of a booster and three years probation. As a part of the disassociation of the booster, the university will not be able to accept financial contributions, recruiting assistance or provide him with any benefit and privileges. In addition, the former operations director received a two-year show-cause order that limits his athletically related duties.

If that is all that happens I could honestly care less. The only penalties that have any teeth are a postseason ban. Syracuse wouldn't like losing scholarships, but 3 less scholarships isn't going to kill a basketball program. It basically kills depth, but if you have a solid rotation of 8 players you are fine.

Believe it was that the NCAA didn't force any schools to havea drug policy, but if they had one, the NCAA could make sure it was being enforced. If that makes any sense

I think it's up to the university to establish a drug policy, then if the university violates their policy, it becomes a violation. However, if no policy is in place, then there aren't any infractions that come from it.

I'm guessing it's related to Fab "The Gift That Keeps on Giving" Melo. And I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if JB's good friend Slick Rick had something to do with it.

More than that.

Not enough for most here. They still sell out, they're still on TV, and they'll be OK.

They can't play in the post season for 4 years and they got fined $60 million. The NCAA came down hard on them.

Everyone has basically known that an investigation has been ongoing. Now this random ass hat has a couple of non substantive quotes to throw in the mix and it's somehow gospel. I could call a sports blogger right now and I bet you money I could convince them that I'm a reliable source of information. In theory whose to say he even has a source? If I was writer I would just make things up once in a while to spice things up and cite an anonymous source.

My urologist is a Georgetown grad.

No kidding.

I'm a little young for the whole urologist thing (knock on wood) so i am not quite sure how it works, but if possible, you should try to tinkle on him a little bit.

For those of you wondering why it came out right now, use your head. It has been know ever since the Fine investigation that we had already been cooperating with the NCAA on an investigation. This is not new news.

This is simply Dodd searching for page hits because he knows college basketball is in the forefront right now so he can maximize his page hits. He basically rehashed what we have known for over a year and then threw in an anonymous quote about throwing a dart and hitting a violation. Great scoop Dennis. :blah:

Dennis Dodd, go get your Pulitzer some place else! The throw a dart comment is so much editorializing it should be dismissed prima facie

This.

If you read the quote without the added text in the brackets, it reads totally different. Problem is most people won't catch that.

I take the actual quote as they don't know, it could be any violation(s). He adds the text to make is sound like they are breaking every rule in the book.
