Andre Reed over Marvin Harrison

Besides the off field incident, how does anyone believe Andre Reed had a better pro career than Marvin Harrison? I think Marvin is a definite HOFer and Andre Reed is border line.
Congrats to Reed. Hope Marvin gets in next year. Just a matter of time.

This whole "He's a Hall of Famer but not a first ballot HOF'er" drives me nuts. If the resume is there how to you not vote someone in? Did Reed's career gain value since last year? Will Marvin's stat line improve like a fine wine? No issue at all with Andre getting in, but how can you objectively look at the two careers and decide to vote for the lesser of the two while leaving out what is arguably the second best body of work for any receiver in the history of the game??

Pretty much sums it up. Hall of fame voters are weird idiots. Baseball voters are the worst.

I thought that was Bruce Smith. :D

I just remember Reed knocking the Bills out of FG position in the Super Bowl, when he took his helmet off and slammed it down on the field after a missed PI call. And I remember him griping about his contract or lack of passes his way, or maybe both at some point. He always seemed like a "big chip on his shoulder" kind of guy. Which is fine, he's a football player. But he never seemed like a "nice guy" to me.

FWIW, Peter King of Sports Illustrated, who is on the selection committee, wrote that he thinks Marvin is the most likely of those who got passed over to get in next year.

I think he gets in next year for sure. There are only a couple of sure-fire guys coming onto the ballot.
