Any truth to Conley & Brumbaugh?

Nassib is 6'2, 229 he has an NFL body. He has a good arm. He has decent pocket awareness. He just has to hit open receivers. I'm sure most NFL coaches would draft him as a project.

Which is why we need a dedicated QB coach for this kid... He's a smart kid with the right tools. Hackett just has far too many responsibilities to give this kid the attention he needs.

McNabb is available.

I like coach Conley. He's a Syracuse guy, and he bleeds Orange. Of course, the same can be said about Coach Marrone. Despite the criticism he gets on this board, I think HCDM is good for this program and will elevate the program. If this is one of the changes he thinks has to be made, so be it.

I'm a huge McNabb fan, but I don't think he's the best choice to teach a QB about accuracy ;)

Maybe not, but many of the QB's we have, and are recruiting, are similar to McNabb. In play style.

do you really think that DM would work for Dm

How can we get rid of a guy who got seniors to play so cohesively last year, arguably the key to our D, and got some nice production out of unheralded guys this year. Even a player everyone assumed was a bust got on the right track.

The guy was fiery and seemed to connect well with recruits. All of Rahme's training camp articles gushed about this guy.

So yeah, I'm a little sad to see Jimmy Brumbaugh go but I think we'll be fine.

Wait... you thought I was talking about someone else?

I agree. Very nice even-keeled post, increasingly a rarity on the football side.

Like they need to learn how to run for their lives because their offensive line sucks and receivers can't get open? Or how to over/underthrow to an open receiver?

Maybe that should be our recruiting sales pitch. "Come to Syracuse. We can prepare you for a spot with a crappy team in the NFL." Hey, everybody has to have a niche.

Probably contracted up to 12/31
That was my first thought. they would be allowed to run until the end of their contract and then just not be asked back.

as of this morning Brumbaugh and Conley are still listed on the coaching staff

probably would be as most asst coaches have yearly contracts. don't know when they expire, maybe 12/30 but i expect that were told they weren't being renewed, thus the "firing".

You realize Nassib is held in high regard by NFL scouts and if he left this year would probably be a late round draft pick?
I'd like to see one article or anything of substance that can confirm this.

I doubt they expire on 12/30. Probably expire after all the bowl games in mid-January, or even after LOI day in February.

HAHAHAHAHA. Haven't laughed like that all week. Are you the one speaking with Dorian Graham and Phillip Thomas, too?

"High regard"?! If Nassib came out this year, you HONESTLY believe he would be drafted? Really?!

He has the physical potential to be an NFL third-string QB. He would be a camp invitee at best.

FWIW, the CBS sports draft site has him rated as the 13th best QB.

Doug is a nyc ass. The first time i met him i thought he was great. My dad didnt think so Just didnt have a good feel about him and my father was close to Ben. Firing Con is a huge mistake and in my opinion is Doug pulling a power play. If he has two more years i will be surprised

He was a legacy hire coaching D3 football into his late 30s. Like OPA has said people ran right up the gut at us.

Wow. Great for Ryan. One more year, and hopefully some off-season training with a (possibly) recently retired SU QB, he could be positioned to have another breakout year.

He plays in a pro style offense, has shown an ability to master a large playbook, makes multiple progressions, and has a quick throwing motion. All of this makes him an attractive QB, and a definite 7th rounder at least this year. Could probably move up to 3rd/4th if he has a good year next year.

He has the physical potential to be a great NFL QB. Let's compare him to the best NFL QB.

Ryan Nassib - 6'2, 229
Aaron Rodgers - 6'2, 225

Nassib has a good arm, he can run, he has pretty good pocket awareness. He doesn't force throws. He rarely turns the ball over. Ryan threw for 2,685 yds, 22 td's, and 9 int's. That's a pretty damn good season with a sub par o-line, and no play makers.

He isn't 6'2. He might be listed as that but he isn't. Which means he is short for an NFL QB. And pocket awareness is decent?

Drew Brees is pretty short for an NFL quarterback...there have been many NFL players who have been said to be too short to be effective. Possibly my favorite linebacker of all time, Zach Thomas.

Talent can overcome height. Nassib doesn't have the talent to do so.

I believe Bees stated before he was hired that Coach P was reluctant to bring him on board because of his coaching ability. It's great to have alumni on staff, but there certainly was concern when GROB hired him. That said, I think his first few years he did a great job, and would have loved if he found a job in the AD somewhere...

We'll see. I think you guys are overrating his "pocket awareness". And with the way the NFL is (and college for that matter), hitting deep balls is a pretty big deal. If Nassib ends up being a 3rd or 4th round draft pick I'll take the odds that the GM will be fired from that team in the ensuing two years.
