Info on how he's doing has been scarce and hard to come by...

Watched the Texans/Broncos game last night. His name was called late fourth quarter as part of the third team. Had a catch on the sideline. Even though the catch was good, the color analyst hammered him for being "surprised" that the ball was there. Said he needed to be more prepared for passes like that. I was not sure what the hell he was talking about, but it was the only time his name came up. In fact, didn't even see him on the field after that catch.

Any chance he may not make the Texans final roster?

He was on the practice squad last year. Playing very little last night, I'm not very confident he makes it this year. Travis Lambhert may take his spot. He's played pretty well.

Interestingly enough his pass came from Tom Savage. Ugh...

I give Savage a ton if credit for hanging in there and getting where he did for sure.

Actually, he was on the IR list.

Still hoping for Alec to find a roster spot with a team at some point this year.

Alec was released today. :(
Fudge!

But, the season is far from over. He may get a shot elsewhere now. If not, I predict that there will be some WR injuries along the way.

If nothing else pans out I think Alec would do well in the CFL. Wide open passing offenses.

Hey I would love to make a practice squad player's salary. $6,000/week minimum for what, 17 weeks a year plus playoffs? Sign me up - minus the fact I would be snapped in half on the very first play of practice.

CFL season's almost over.
The new FXFL would be a better bet.

Hell, if all else fails he can latch onto an Arena League team, put up monster numbers for a year or two, and get back into an NFL camp.

I 100% believe Alec will play in the NFL within the next 5 years.

(Unrelated, I discovered that our new assistant coach at my little D3 school is good friends with one of Alec's friends, so the assistant has a ton of SU gear - Pinstripe Bowl and otherwise - that he received via the friend...small world, college football)

Alec would be a perfect fit here in Ottawa with the expansion Redblacks. We've got a good line, a veteran QB, but nobody who can hold onto the football.
The season is 8 games in out of 18, but typically there is about 5-10% turnover after the NFL cuts are done, or more. Oftentimes, players get signed to CFL practice rosters to get acclimatized for the following year.

Hi everyone,

The change in staffs with the Texans didn't work in Alec's favor. Alec didn't fit well in O'Brien's scheme. I admit I was surprised that the cut came now and not a week from now, but O'Brien seemed sincere in passing along his recommendation to other teams.

I doubt he needs to worry about CFL or arena league at the moment - he knows he's able to compete and hold his own at this level - now it's time for his agent to earn his percentage ;). We'll see what happens...

If there are some smart NFL teams they better sign him up. I would take him in a heart beat. I think he would fit NE's system great, although not a Pat's fan.

I dont see why buffalo wouldn't be a fit. Not sure what their depth at wr looks like

Buffalo has a ton of WR's, so hopefully Alec's agent suggests a different spot.
I'd tend to agree. I can't even begin to speculate team needs or where he would fit -- especially since I have no say. Hopefully his agent is working the phones now and finding a landing zone.

The increase to 10 for number of players that team's can put on the practice squad doesn't hurt either. Pretty confident he'll find a spot when the dust settles.

Buffalo would be a terrible fit right now to be honest, we have more WR's then we know what to do with already including several highly drafted guys. Alec definitely has a spot in this league but Buffalo would not be one of them. To me Cleveland would be a great fit they desperately needs someone who can get open and catch the ball.

The new practice squad rules should help someone like Lemon. He could be a practice squad guy and get back like that.
