Any word on announcers yet?

See what's funny here is beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder, because my complaint about many announcers is that they sound like average Joes working an average job that they hate when getting paid to sit courtside at games talking about sports should be super fun, and no amount of sports or player knowledge compensates for an announcer that sounds like they hate what they do (Billy Packer always sounded miserable, for example).

So I love the Gus Johnsons and Bill Waltons (RIP) that actually brings some enthusiasm and energy.

Loved Walton. Love Mike Breen, Dickie V, Raftery, and Ian Eagle. That's real enthusiasm.

But Gus is fake enthusiasm. And he doesn't treat it as a job, he doesn't do research at all.

Yeah, outside of his boisterous touchdown calls he's usually pretty clueless. He's like the announcer equivalent of loud = funny.

It’s funny. Some over the top announcers I like, such as Gus. And others, such as Chris Berman and Dick Vitale (I’m referring to them in their capacity as broadcasters; I’m sure they are fine human beings) I can’t stand.

I love Dickie V, but he jumped the shark as a color guy when he became the voice of Duke and Carolina. He stopped coming up beyond the Mason Dixon to do games except to shill for Duke in NYC, and the odd Mich St. game, etc.

I will always love Bill Raftery in his years as the main BE color man. He is gold and never leaned one way or the other.

Gus is Fox’s version of Dickie V and clearly has leans when he does games.

Gus Johnson. He's an embarrassment, and this clip shows his "enthusiasm" is just an act.
