It's hard not to be excited about a rivalry week game. We have a fighting chance against NY's college team. I know, I know, I'm being a little disrespectful to West Point) but I call 'em like I see 'em. I know it's early in the season but this is our Super Bowl and I really expect the boys to bring 110% and pull the upset against a bona fide NCAA tournament regular.

In the past, I've read too much (including positively) on early season performances. I'm going to wait and see and not make drastic decisions either way. I think our offense looks much better after one game and we won't shoot that bad every night.
Defensively was terrible. I think the reality is probably somewhere inbetween on both but who knows. I'm not going to make decisions based on one game samples anymore. I've been guilty of that too much on both bball and football, and it's really hard to do that in the transfer era now with so many changes. It's the first game for these guys together and I don't put as much stock in exhibition games against inferior teams.
My only clear takeaway is that help defense needs to improve.

My first thought when the game finished — the thought that replaced ‘so, we’re going to lose to LeMoyne?’ — was, we are going to get waxed by Colgate.
I’ve since calmed down a bit, but we have a lot of work to do over the next week.
The one thing I know — Langle and Colgate will absolutely tear up this defense. They may not make everything, but they’ll get every look they want.
Not sure what the adjustment is — pressing, more Taylor/less lampkin and freeman? Not sure.

Rip Cazenovia College.
This is exactly how I feel. The biggest take away I have from last night is there was literally NO rim protection. Guards were taking it to the rim and finishing with nobody rotating over to even change the shot. I have concerns with Eddie. He didn't appear to be able to elevate at all. And maybe Naheem didn't play because we thought it was a bad matchup for him with them being such a 3 point shooting team but when we saw they were just beating us consistantly off the dribble and getting to the rim, I would have thought he would get a look to see if he could change things there. Or...maybe he's hurt again which nobody asked about last night.

I definitely don't think you can afford to mess with Freeman's development to win one game.
He needs to be out there so he can get his feet under him. Even though he didn't know what he was doing half the time last night, I'd still say he was our second best player.
He's our best shot at a really good run late in the season.

He played 28 minutes. More than either Lampkin or Davis.

Freeman isn't good enough yet to play in the NBA next year.
Glad to have him on the roster but chances are we are developing him for Kentucky or Gonzaga or UConn.
You want to lose games so he can jack some contested 3s at the end lol?
We have 3 nice forwards for 2 spots it's a definite bright side of this roster.

The positive way to look at this, is that the team won't take Colgate lightly after almost losing to a team that Colgate would beat by 15. And they have a week to work it out.

Freeman is going to be really good, sooner rather than later.
I'm not even sure what crazy idea you're advocating. Not playing the best recruit since Carmelo Anthony because we're worried some other school will try to poach him after the season?

I feel like we beat Colgate by 30 points every year of my life, and then suddenly a switch was flipped and we lost to them twice, and needed a miracle comeback to escape last year. I think this game is a basic litmus test on the health of our program. If we struggle against them, it's a major red flag that we are in for more of the same BS again.

I actually feel much better about Colgate than I did about Lemoyne.
I didn’t mention much about the Lemoyne game before but had a lot of concerns that it might be dicey. Combination of nerves, first time the true starting lineup got out there together and the local matchup factor with Lemoyne playing well across town relishing the opportunity.
The team’s performance and concerning things amplified that but the fact it went they way it did was no surprise.
It was almost too predictable that we would look out of sorts a bit. Not to mention Lemoyne was riding high off putting up 116 in their first exhibition where for us those were just scrimmages. So here is to hoping the gut feeling is 2 for 2

Giving anyone’s minutes to Taylor is a terrible idea on its face. Should give Taylor’s minutes to Moore.
But then there’s the fact tha Lemoyne was picked to finish 4th out of 9 in the lowest ranked conference in D1.
Yeah, and Florida State was pre-season top 5 in the country in football. Those " picked to finish" rankings are always super accurate.
Even if they were picked first, they still shouldn’t have been able to compete two years removed from being D2. This is syracuse basketball, not Binghamton
