Hate the Dome !

I see that it is dating our program. They have $ for another new court this year
but are to cheap to give a better value for the unsold seats
What we have now and what it has become is not a comfortable or collective
Syracuse basketball fan arena period.
Many regulars with no energy.
The 30k days is now few and far between and has been I know or even 20k
My question is who is responsible to market all the unsold tickets.
If it not selling at the price their asking the price could go down day of game.

Sometimes are players need a boost that a home court is suppose to give
and with the wine and brie crowd in the bleachers it embarrassing .
It is suppose to be fun and I can have more fun watching the game
at a freakin sports bar with real fans that enjoy the game and have energy

Anybody that thinks we are lucky needs to go watch a game at Louisville
Their fan base are no better than ours but we don't prove it they do case and point last night

To each their own, but the Dome is my favorite place on the face of the Earth, and I hope we play there in football and basketball for another 50 years.

I'd be for building a 25k basketball stadium, similar to Louisville's, on campus. For big games, where we want 30k plus, we can play in the Dome.

Agreed are crowds at away games or at msg are much better

So little do we seem to know. The Dome is STILL a recruiting advantage. 34k is simply not doable anywhere else in the world on campus. Its that simple. We aint going anywhere

You take the trade-offs of the sleepy, bored 15k crowds in November and December for the opportunity to get 1 or 2 30,000+ crowds during the conference season. Those 30k crowds can't be replicated anywhere in the country. The Dome is still a huge recruiting edge. I would certainly not be in favor of wiping out such a unique basketball venue.

You haven't done your homework. Average per game attendance at the dome has gone up every year for the last five years in a row. The largest attendance ever at the Dome was just last year.

Build a football stadium. Make the Dome basketball-only. Remove the 200 level and build basketball luxury boxes. Sink the court and put seats from the existing football seats right up to the court (get rid of the walkway around the court). And for God sakes, bring back the curtain.

Turn the backcourt area into an entertainment area. Restaurants, bars, etc.

I agree that you can't lose the recruiting advantage that 30K brings. It is what makes us unique. We built a stadium like Louisville, we are just like dozens of other schools in the country.

Okay, I have to finally ask it. What the $*&# is up with your avatar?

Yup.

Most college kids who play at the Dome (for Syracuse or the opponent) will never play basketball infront of a bigger crowd in their life, it's history speaks for itself. Teams like Nova, St. John's and GTown that split their home games at different arenas don't ahve the same feel. Look at UConn:

Gampel Pavillion, Storrs- Excellent college arena, probably seats around 10,000; awesome atmosphere for big games. But 10,000 is only 10,000, they can only get about 2,000 students at most to any game there. UConn hates playing big-time games there (except for Gameday this year) because they won't make nearly as money as they would at XL.

XL Center, Hartford- Bigger arena, they probably get around 18,000 for bigger games. Atmosphere is meh for a college game, not much more seating for students, and it's about a 35min drive from campus.

The Dome is special.

Did the Taco Bell dog turn into a demon smackhead?

the dome is definetly great for the program there is no doubt about it, that being said there is always room for improvement, while having the biggest crowds in college basketball is a great bragging right, there is a reason why the dome is usually not mentioned as being a great home court advantage, i know a lot of people dont like Duke but you have to give them props, there 9500 certainly make the place an exciting venue

imo the dome should and could be the best home court advantage hands down, the problem is the money people are willing to shell for the best seats, aren't the ones who should be sitting there if you want the maximum home court advantage, the best seats ideally should go to the people willing to camp out for days and are willing to be as "crazy" as dukes student section

i fully understand the big money that people spend on those seats helps the program, but it also undeniably creates a very stale environment, maybe its just the personality on CNY, i heard the same thing about Michigan's football stadium, biggest, but not the badest. people are always talking about LSU as the best atmosphere

another issue i have is charging students for tickets, it doesnt get any lower than that, it almost strikes a nerve in me because of how much the students are all spending for an already vastly overpriced tuition, it should be included as part of the college experience, students should have the best seats for football and basketball since it is COLLEGE sports, the more students you can get to a game, the better the atmosphere

Who needs a bunch of kangarooing bozo's? Give me the Dome Roar.

If they lower prices due to lack of sales, sales will decline to suppress the ticket prices. If your product has value, keep the price. Its tv that keeps people away, imo.

You can't be more wrong. Love the Dome. Let the students surround the court and PLEASE get real urinals and then it will be perfect.

I live for the Dome. I love the urinals, the stale beer, the crowds, the cramped hallways and the fact that e can pack it in if need be. Totally disagree with you.

Kids the world over dream of playing in the Dome. Who ever dreams of playing at the YUM ?

The Dome is Home. It is as much a part of Syracuse Basketball's identity as Boeheim is.

I have never been lucky enough to sit courtside, but I recollect hearing that if you sit in those seats, you're agreeing to not be "crazy", i.e., you're not supposed to stand up and obstruct the view of those sitting behind you. Anyone care to confirm/deny?

Mobile phone posting not trying to write a poem, Really get over yourself!

Many people know the atmoshere leaves alot to be desired period 80 % of the time.
People who say it "ain't" broke don't fix would have 20lb cell phone still in their hands. We the fans and the players deserve a better enviroment for the other 80 % of the non 30K games period!

The Dome is an advantage until they realize the real reality of the dome as a venue. It is unique but we should do so much more with it!

Over half of college hoops team have better home court advantage sans the two or three big turnouts a year
