i bet it will come out soon, if not tomorrow, but just curious if anyone has any details on this.

Sure, SU doesn't have to, but it may be a good idea to do it. One of the issues we get ragged on is our inability, or more like our unwillingness, to pay for top coaching. Show the rest of the college world that we are serious about football and are willing to pay for it. That is...unless Babers contract doesn't match up well with the rest of the P5. With a 6-year deal, however, I'll bet it puts us at least in the middle of the pack.

It might not come out for some time. I'm pretty sure SU does not have to release the figures, like public schools do.

Good point. I forgot su typically does not release this info up front.

How about some guesses?

Id say base salary of $1.75-2 w incentives to up to $500k

More importantly will Dino announce some of his assistants today? I would think we need all hands on deck this week if possible to get some recruits or retain the ones we have.

Just because guys like us on message boards don't know, does t mean the coaching community doesn't know.

I wouldn't release it if I were SU. I would guess 5 year contract 1.8-2.5 million per year. 2.5-3 million assistant HC budget.

Tons of athletic apparel, travel stipend, membership at Drumlins or another golf course.
Bonus for ACC division, ACC title, NYS bowl.
Decent but not high buyout.

I would t announce any other coaches. Don't distract from the HC right now. The one exception might be a OC. It there is no reason to. Even if a guy is hired , announce it afterward.

We were spending approx 4 million a year with SS 1.4 million for HC 2.6 assistant budget.

We gotta believe that has been upped by atleast 1 million and probably 2 million per year.
I would bet 2 million per year for Dino Babers and probably when I actually looked at the numbers 4 million for his assistants.

Thanks for answering the question. Id be surprised if we went 5.5 total but def good point on the assist coaches. Id like to know hat figure as well. Im thinking more like 2 hc and 2.5 acs.

SS announced Chuck Bullough at his PC. Dino should announce anybody he wants. It doesn't distract the HC one bit. It just a simple Q and A if he has an actually answer.

Sure, but maybe it would help with public and media perception.

No need to put out a press release. Strategically placed leaks can be just as effective, if not moreso.

Syracuse doesn't have to reveal any contract details because it's a private school, but I'll stab at a guess:

5 years, $2.1-2.5 mil/yr with decent performance-based incentives. Another $2.4-3 mil/yr for assistants.

Buyout of $3.5 mil that decreases by $750k/yr.

Membership at Onondaga, not Drumlins.

I understand we have to pay SS the remaining year of his contract, but what about Baber's? How many years did he have left on his BG contract? Are we on the hook for that too?

I'm with you here, but this is where I get a bit nervous. I understand that loyalty commands that Dino bring his assistants with him, but that is a lot of money that can be used on bigger names. I truly hope he takes advantage of that and doesn't bring his buddies unconditionally. Hire quality, they don't all need to have dinner together on Saturday night after the game. Wins are most important.

I think I read DB has a 750k buyout at BG.

I would hope SU pays that buyout.

DB deserves a little more than SS got. I would start at 2 million per and give a higher assistant budget. We should be able to afford 5-6 million per year on FB coaches.

We are on the hook for SS's 1.4 million though for one more year or however he wants it paid.

This is where Dino Babers HC experience allows him to bring whomever he wants. If he is comfortable with his assistants from Western Illinois to Bowling Green to Syracuse then I am 100% on board with that.
SS was bringing back the 2006 Western Michigan staff that wasn't that successful. Babers staff has been to the MAC title game 2 years in a row. Whoever Dino Babers hires I would support. I hope he considers Acosta though.

Up that significantly, I would say. We reportedly offered Scott Frost $1.8 base with no head coaching experience. I'd say $2.1M - $2.5M.

"Bigger names" isn't as important as who Babers feels he works better with.

I doubt we'll see any neo-nepotism -- Babers is a guy with a proven track record of success, proven head coaching acumen, who is going to expect to win fast here. He's going to hire competent people to help his cause, not buddies.
