Dude, I’m not trying to be rude

But what the heck are you talking about???

The students are on thanksgiving break. They’ve been since Friday.

SU knew the students were leaving and that’s why those tickets were able to be sold for this game and the Miami game.

They sent out a questionnaire to all the student season ticket holders before the season started asking if they were planning on attending the UConn game/Miami game since they would be on break.

If they weren’t they could give their tickets back to SU.

Some of them decided to and others didn’t. The student section was only in the 100 level for UConn and will be the same for Miami
not for nothing by when did schools give a week off for break for Thanksgiving?

Come on the dome atmosphere on Saturday was absolutely god awful.

Let’s not pretend it wasn’t one of the stalest crowds all season

Last Saturday yes but he's saying it's been like that all season which is not true.

Yup, last Saturday was not a game many cared about. Both Tech's had a pretty good atmosphere. And while I hate to talk about the Stanford 4th and 8 for obvious reasons it was flipping deafening on that play.

There's another elephant in the room. Football games are kind of expensive. Tickets, food, parking, clothing, gas, etc. If you tailgate even more so, we have a small one and still I've spent at least a Benjamin at Wegmans each time.

A lot of people are broke right now. If you're slashing your grocery list, attending D1 football games is a super duper easy thing to cut from your life no matter how much you support your team.

I say this because we've had better turnouts with worse teams, even just a couple years ago when finances weren't so strained.

Current Sagarin. Our best OOC is #48. Our SOS thus far is 60th. That said, we only play one team in the current Top 38 and only two in the Top 47. Nearly half (5 teams) of our schedule is between 48th and 56th, a very strong middle. The bottom is not bad either with only one team outside 97th.

We are now 9th in the ACC, so right in the middle. Getting top half is definitely possible. Getting ahead of the Top FCS seems out of reach. Being 5th in the ACC (25% teams above and 75% below) would require us winning out and some help. Getting 2nd in the Northeast would likely require winning out. We need to get #1 in NY State, that could be tight. Finishing Top 50 is still possible.

1. Ohio State new #1 overall, highest B1G
2. Notre Dame new #2, highest non B1G/SEC

187. Southern Miss 2nd worst FBS (remember when they were a good program?)
224. Kent State worst FBS
262. Northwestern State 2nd worst team
263. Stetson worst team
See this is where I call BS with SoS rankings.

ND opponents are 68-62. Included in this are Army and Navy who feasted on weak schedules. They are 16-4.

ND ACC portion of schedule, the teams have a 24-31 record.

Their Big Ten portion is 7-15.

Our opponents records are 79-54. Our MAC was better than their MAC.

We played a ten win, a nine win, an eight win, and three seven win teams.

They played one nine win, one eight win, and four seven win teams.

They will have played three teams with four or fewer wins (3-8, 2-9, 1-10).

We have one game where the team will have fewer than four wins (Stanford).

So how is the discrepancy that large?

Was like that when I was in college.

Especially the larger schools as many travel so it makes their traveling for the holidays much easier

Been on college campus forever.. Never had one that got a break like that for Thanksgiving.

The best was hoping Profs gave the mon-tues class a free pas.

I think all SOS rankings are BS. I have never seen a good one. IMO you need to actually look at the schedules.

As to Notre Dame, they are 65th. So SU is ahead of ND.

They had a road game at A&M, who is harder than anyone we have played thus far. They also played Louisville who you can argue is better than anyone we have played thus far. They don't play an FCS, those games drag down things. Miami is a good G5 team.

However, they only have 8 P4 games. They should be punished for this in the playoff rankings when everyone else is playing 9 or 10.

Their schedule has been pretty soft, which is why we are ahead of them despite having a pretty soft one ourselves.

And of those 8 P4 games, Purdue and FSU are 3-19.

Louisville is 7-4.
ATM is 8-3.

Miami(OH) is 7-3.
Army 9-1.
Navy 7-3.

Army being ranked is a nice story.

But the didn't play Memphis or Tulane. They literally played the easiest schedule you could play in that league. The worst 6 teams and ECU and when they beat UTSA it will be the worst 7 teams.

Believe it's more recent for Syracuse. wasn't the case when I was there but definitely is now.

Just to go back to 2022...

After starting 6-0 we lost at 7-0 Clemson, got destroyed by 4-3 Notre Dame, and then lost at 4-4 Pitt. We still got 45k for 6-3 FSU.

This year we have won 2 games in a row, 3 out of 4, are ranked Top 30, and are playing Top 10 10-1 Miami yet cannot get 40k?
Casuals don't know we're top 30. They only know we don't have a number next to our name. In jaded CNY that's all thar matters. Combine that with the timing of the losses and momentum for excitement kept getting squashed, and then we haven't had big names in the Dome this year. Having said all that, I'm a little surprised a better crowd isn't expected for a top 10 team.

I agree with that. What you first stated is why I think this is not a sell out. But your last line is what I can't figure out. This should be our largest non parent's weekend crowd of the year. I am not expecting 43,456 largest crowd, but surprised that we cannot get 39,551 which would be 2nd place.

The apathy around town is the issue. Too many "did we play today" questions when you out after a game some place.

Let’s not pretend it wasn’t one of the stalest crowds all season

I hate the fact that when I go to home games, I get weird looks from people when I yell like a maniac on defensive 3rd downs. I don't think many people understand what a home environment is supposed to be like.

I’m right there with ya.

I felt this last weekend I needed to sit and not yell.

Very awkward crowd.

Hopefully a better environment this weekend for Miami

It’s been at least 12 years. Probably more.

This past weekend we were all on a 8 second delay to cheer for touchdowns. We would all get up for the TD play, then look for flags, then finally the High fives and cheering came out.

Once admins figured out they could give themselves extra time off for basically free it became standard norm.

Miami bailed late and had their ND game this year moved to another year. Kind of at the last minute, schedule wise.

Army was the late notice replacement for Miami.
