Are there any Pro-Shafer's left?

Well I mean, who doesn't?

But no...obviously things can change. But there's a clear frontrunner, and it's not Babers.

The frontrunner better not be Scott Frost. After the SS Era I don't want a coordinator w/zero HC experience.

Whomever the next HC is they have to have experience as a HC.

Just interested if there is anybody left in his corner? Not sure if this would work better being an anonymous poll or not, but all the 1 more year for Shafer's please stand up.

I'm not interested in the i'm ok either way crowd. I want to know if there are anymore 100% Shafer is the answer people?
Yes

I agree. I would rather have a FCS HC with experience than an assistant, not sure it will go that way but we shall see

I would rather have a guy with HC experience as well. Sounds like Frost is at the top of Coyle's list however. Don't know where we are on Frost's list..

I'm pro-Shafer without regard to his tenure as SU head coach. It sounds as though Coyle has made a decision and will support it. I believe that Shafer and his staff are good guys and wish this year had been kinder to them. I for one will take no pleasure in his demise. I always cheer for the good guys...

In theory I agree, but in reality it probably doesn't make sense to rule out all coordinators.
I wouldn't rule out all coordinators. Only coordinators with zero HC experience. I wouldn't hire Gene Chizik but if he were a candidate i would understand. He is a former HC and now a good DC. I want an offense guy but a coordinator with HC experience can be a candidate.

I don't want to gamble on Scott Frost even if he is next Tom Herman.

Good grief, man. Head coaches don't spontaneously appear from nowhere. They were all coordinators at some point. I get leaning towards a more "sure thing" - but loosen up. Don't paint all coordinators with the same brush.

My turning point was florida state. I know we are not winning there but the shenanigans before half is what did it. Unfortunately, i really like coach shafer but he has been abysmal on game day.

Agreed. And his time here should include:

- great off field behavior and grades
- being a pretty good DC and keeping hope alive until 2012's breakout O
- caring about the community and "getting CNY"

Eh. We'll see. You don't always need to hire a VP to replace a VP, sometimes a director or manager is extremely capable. I completely understand being reluctant to hire someone w/o HC experience. Completely. But every candidate is different. Let's see who's on the table and then make a decision.

Some are, but they're jerks.

I don't agree. If the best candidate is one who hasn't had that opportunity yet then we shouldn't drop them because of it.
Well when Frost makes a stupid decision you better not hammer him. The guy doesn't deserve a P5 job as his first HC job.

Coaching a Heisman winner and a pretty damn good QB in Adams is not going to happen at Syracuse. Tempo works when you have that talent. The guy isn't worth the risk. I don't want on the job training after the SS Era.

At the Clemson game there were tables set up and they were hawking season tickets for next year. I asked them if it was hard selling season tickets as they won't be playing in the dome next year due to renovations. They assured me all home games will be in the dome. What do they know that we don't?
not sure maybe they are assuming that until the renovation plans are announced between now and december? I hope all games are in the dome next season as if their not i wont be able to buy season tickets most likely since im not driving 3 1/2 hours each way to buffalo

Wait we don't have a good qb here?

Only way going with frost would be ok is if he hired an experienced staff with higher paying assisstants
