Arizona fires Kevin Sumlin / hires Jedd Fisch

I never like to see anyone get fired but in college and professional sports its hard to feel sorry for them. There are very few jobs that will pay you to fail miserably. Its become a joke. With very few exceptions its about fit. Nick has won at each college stop. Other than the Ohio State coach i cant name one other coach who has done well at each stop. Maybe Kelly. Thats it.
It has to be a good fit. Mac P Marrone all east coast guys. Good fits. Gerg, Shaf, Dino not so much. I mean Dino wears Tommy Bahama shirts with palm trees and a SU logo on the pocket.
Personally i think he has a chance to turn the corner now that he realizes he needs to. I seriously believe he had one foot out the door during our 10 game win season. The jobs just didn't fall as he expected.
At this point he needs to turn SU and his reputation around.
Dino isnt going to be hired as an OC or DC. Hes not known for this. Hes either going to turn it around and stay or move onto a west coast job or he is going to possibly follow in Frank Stolich path and coach a Mac team.
He has a need to succeed. Hopefully he steps up.

You clearly know very little about Syracuse University or the Football Program.
I clearly have been following the team for 3 decades been to dozens of away games since 1998 and 4 home games over the same amount of time, and donated many thousands of dollars in the same amount of time. So you can question if I have the right take but questioning my knowledge is ridiculous.

Well thank god Dino’s coming off a hot fresh 1-10 season

Can’t of a school I’d be happier leaving Syracuse for

I am not a hiring firm, I do not have a list of who should take over, but after losing seasons in 4 of 5 years I am sure there is somebody who could at least beat those results.

Long on diagnosis, short on cure

Literally, anybody's worst result would be one fewer win.

Spending the $15 mil or whatever to buy out the coaching staff is just taking more money away from spending on facilities/recruiting budget.

YEAH BUT OUR COACH WILL ONLY WIN 1 GAME PER YEAR AND LOSES TO MULTIPLE FCS TEAMS, TRY PUTTING A PRICE TAG ON THAT!!

Just another thread of great taste...less filling. Here is the one certainty besides taxes. JW has made it abundantly clear Dino is not going anywhere. So why is everyone trying to convince each other their side is right on a question that has already been answered? Agree or disagree on JWs decision all you want, he is the AD and he has indicated its been a crazy year and he wants Dino back. Pretty simple.

yuck
Are you nuts, we'd be lucky to get anyone on that list besides anderson or bielema, I know you don't want babers gone but to say that's a bad list is ridiculous

aint none of those guys coming here

I didnt like seeing Sumlin fail. Its difficult for Black, Hispanic any minority coaches to get a shot at these jobs.

Was reading on Lewis, I think he spends one more year at Kent St and then moves on. I think Leopold moves on this year

Did Sumlin go right from T A&M to Arizona? I think he did, probably should have taken a year and regrouped. Did some self scouting so to speak. Rich Rod wasn't that bad at Arizona. it really came off the rails there. Herm and ASU have a ton of momentum as well which hasn't helped. Herm is looking like a great hire that almost everyone hated at the time. ( Of course a random poster here will say how much they loved it!!)

I think depends on where your reading? I've read that Lewis is at the top of the list for Illinois but so is Leipold so who knows?
