Arthur Jones has passed

A buddy of mine from college's brother in law was a coach [and is now the HC, I believe] of UE football.

One day, he told me that we were about to land a big time prospect. It was Arthur Jones. Apparently, he was a big 'Cuse fan, and didn't seriously consider other schools.

We were lucky to have him.

Per the Ravens.

RIP, great player during a brutal time for SU. Never forgot that ND performance.
I'll never forget Tom Hammonds on the call for NBC: "I think the Notre Dame Stadium public address announcer is on an automatic recording, 'Syracuse tackle by Arthur Jones.'"

Ugh. He probably could’ve been a high pick if he’d declared after the ND game. It was heart breaking when he tore his pectoral in the off season before Marrone’s first year, it clearly cost him in dropping down in the draft. That he'd decided to return was just another reason to root for him. Dude oozed orange, if you disliked Art, you really had something wrong with you that you should seek professional help

But then he might not have had the opportunity to win a Super Bowl like he did with the Ravens.

Top 3 Individual, Single-Game Performances in SU Football (since 1985)
1. Arthur Jones, at Notre Dame. Nov. 22, 2008
2. Diamond Ferry, at Boston College. Nov. 28, 2004
3(a). David Tyree, vs. Virginia Tech, Nov. 9, 2002
3(b). Walter Reyes, vs. Notre Dame, Dec. 6, 2003
Good list. Ferri, not Ferry.

Also, I would add the game Dwight Freeney had against Mike Vick and VT as well.

Jim Collins had a bunch of insane games playing LB for us in the late 1970s. And Dan Conley had a couple dominant performances as well. What a shame he had so many injuries.

And All4SU wants Sidat-Singh to get credit for his remarkable game against Cornell in 1938.
