As far as the next Head basketball coach

Hard not to stress out when this hire could result in a minimum of 3 more years of suffering.

i cant take this no more the sandlot GIF

Yeah, but we won’t know that when the hire is made, so no reason to worry now.

The hot new coach who’s crushing it right now might come in and perform about as well as a trash can. Past success is usually a bad predictor of future success. Sufficed to say, we’ll have no idea who is going to be good or bad the next 3 years, so have a Coke and a smile and see what happens.

Our fan base is like one of the fans that was sitting behind my son and I, the first time my son went to a football game. It was the ot win against North Carolina. In the fourth quarter, before Devito came in, the guy behind us started yelling,”I’M TIRED OF SUCKING!”
We still laugh about it.

I tried to make the same statement a few weeks ago. Let the process work. If we don’t have the $$$ commitments we will get what we pay for.

I have to imagine the magnitude of not getting it done in the $$$ dept and thus missing on the quality level we need with this hire is not lost on anyone involved. I am sure they understand that failure and disappointment here will come with a lot of very outwardly present frustration from many in our community of alums and fans.

Thus while SU has done more than its share of poorly handling such decisions, I just can’t see them getting this wrong. Just too much at stake to do so. Not going to stop the ongoing anxiety still looming but this isn’t 5D chess here they are trying to win.

Unfortunately, some of the Hogs — supporters of BS Hodgson — have complained and silenced my participation in the GMAC and Coaching Search threads. Rather than talk out the coaching search using facts and logic like men, they have silenced the Hodgson opposition. Thus, my participation is limited to the use of dorky emotes. It’s not my preferred means of argumentation but I work with the tools I am afforded.

You’ve been doing that since anyone ever responded to you and you’ve never been interested in discussion. Stop with the dumb…..

Well to be fair I think I had it -2000…

All signs point to BH and it makes the most sense. But at the end of the day it will be whatever the Lally family wants. But I’d bet BH +700 all day
Assuming what you say is true, do you see any issue with one family dictating the direction and hiring in the athletic department when a coalition of stakeholders and donors want to go in another direction?

Will the Lally family be willing to work with other large donors as well as the bigger voices and alums within SU and outside in general and be one of numerous vested partner in all of this or should we expect they essentially hold veto power across the board ?

Not so much talking AW here as I am Melo… but as many pro SU folks in that financial hemisphere as possible too toss AW in there as well.

Depends on the donors, cant say I have a lot of faith in some of the SU hoops alumni after reading their social media. lol

It’s not wise to hitch your wagon to the whims and desires of one donor, especially when said donor has never been a stakeholder in basketball in the past. The damage it will do to existing stakeholder relationships is incalculable especially if the big donor scales back their involvement in the future. Not smart.

Go watch Blue Chips starring Nick Nolte and come back to me.

I am sure with anyone with half a basketball brain would be more than fine with Hodgson. I mean they want to win.

I really wish one of the tools you could be afforded is some really strong drugs

Sir, I am talking about a bigger game being played than who the next coach is that is essential to the health and longevity of a donor-funded NIL basketball program.

I think any single point of failure in any aspect of business is bad. But it’s hard to discern if that is what is going to happen moving forward or not. But for now, he who writes the checks makes the decisions
