speaking is fine. choosing the ad or coach isnt. and ive yet to hear a peep, even on a fan forum like this, that coach so and so was selected by donor so and so.

Also somethings don't need to be said on a message board. There are reports all over of coaches being let go because they didn't get along with boosters, and the boosters wanted them out and go in a different direction. Happens at most if not all SEC football schools.

i agree with all of that. they don't want to invest in a losing product so they speak up. but imo that's not the same as picking the new guy or gal.

look, i love the lallys. and melo. and the other big donors like ensley. appreciate everything they do financially for su. but hiring should not be their role.

i have zero insight. but my gut would tell me it wasnt true or maybe exaggerated. you don't get to the positions he's gotten too without knowing how to interview.

Yes. That comment was made before several insiders eluded to HOP coming with $30 million in NIL from a coalition of stakeholders and donors, including Melo and other hooper alum. HOP + $30 million is a very logical pony to back. A coalition represents consensus, not a single donor dictating the direction of the athletic program.

I find it odd you've been on this version of the board since it's inception yet 90% of your posts have been written since it was 100% apparent the coaching job was opening.

Honestly, we haven’t really hit on any hire that we have thought they would make. So although, I love all the speculation. I assume I will just be surprised at that time and either hate or love the hire.

Lally's wanted Lyke per insiders and that was not enough to get her in. I think it's just not realistic to think that "whale donors ", specific to hoops and football are not going to be influential. The university 's right or wrong rely on them in this new structure to be competitive. I would think they don't decide but would think their voices are heard and have a seat at the table.

Lol. Just said the same. I don't think they have unilateral power but certainly a seat at the table in this new athletics system.

Same, retired a year ago almost and having trouble keeping up with all this.

Pick one of the final four and let's go Orange! They are all great candidates, will all be an upgrade from where we are by a lot, and I expect to add passion and success that we need.

It's possible that while he knows how to interview he didn't come prepared enough with answers the search committee wanted regarding 1) fundraising, 2) how to deal with NIL, and/or 3) how someone with his background that doesn't including working currently in an athletic department at a school would get up to speed. But either the search committee wasn't satisfied with him as a candidate or that ADBB's interview blew them away. My big question is if the search committee hadn't been totally satisfied with any of the 4 they interviewed would they have just chosen the least worst because of the time contraints on needing to hire a new BB coach or would they have gone back and searched for other candidates?

From what I’ve been reading there is a lot of emotional investment into Hog. It’s very uncomfortable. Thankfully the committee will stick to the facts!!!!!
