I was always curious why he seemed buried on the depth chart heading into this year. Looks like the reasons may not have been strictly talent based, but maybe trying to light a fire or to give him the incentive to step in line.

I remember an article from last spring when he mentioned not learning the play book for the hybrid position, that he had to learn by doing. I agree with Bees should of been on defense

This is 100%on on Broyld. Your blind hatred for the staff makes you blame them for everything. He messed up all by himself despite many many chances. I think it would be best if you stop posting on this topic that you seem to know very little about.

Say what you want that's a huge loss. He was mismanaged like crazy at Syracuse, but some of it's his own fault, if not all.

When Mike Williams got booted, I was upset. He may have been an idiot, but he was our one offensive player that was a big-time player and could've played for anybody in the country(talent wise). Not knowing anything about the situation, just looking at it as a fan of the team...that sucked. So I could understand if fans were mad at that one.

Broyld?? At his best in 2013, he was a decent possession receiver. 52 catches for 452 yards and 0 TD's...8.7 ypc. Big deal. Even if I thought our coach was terrible(and I don't), it would be hard to get worked up over this one. Broyld was a mediocre college player at best.

well i think there were a multitude of complaints re the george mcdonald playbook? the record and offensive output supports that. as far as i can tell no one understood the playbook!!!

I hope the young man turns his life around. It isnt the coaches fault, it is about personal choices. With the athletics department being on probation for academics and not following their own drug policy; you better be certain to follow the rules. Especially with a new AD in place.

I have made mistakes that cost me in college also...hopefully this isnt the end for him and her grows personally from the disappointment.

I would say amazing athlete. He had NFL level athleticism last year.

If he is going to have a future in football, maybe this is the wakeup call he needed. Needs to reduce the variables, find a position he can excel at, and hopefully transfer into a school where he can sit out a redshirt year learning whatever that position is. Unless he does a TON of work he's not going pro on the offensive side of the ball.

Obviously the circumstances were a bit different, but honestly I can't help but equate Ashton Broyld to Paul Harris. Tons of hype for an upstate kid, failed to meet expectations, and had some rocky times on the Hill.

To be fair, Harris score more than 1 basket. ;-}

I doubt it. Sounds more like fall out from NCAA. We are following some of our OWN rules that we used to side-step.

Serious question: is the dismissal written in stone? Is there a chance he could be reinstated? As I recall, a few years ago, there was a certain WR who got caught with an open container in an automobile along with a cargo of unlawful substance. He still got to play. Any similar chance for Ashton?

I'd never say never, but I think with the history of issues, we'll be seeing the 1-AA school to which he will transfer very soon.
