You offered a very subjective opinion that is debatable. Nobody really cares about all time wins and NCs achieved many decades ago. I think anybody that remotely follows college football would say Bama, Clemson and OSU are the top three programs in the country. That's backed up by wins, NCs, most players in the NFL etc.

There are so many ways to quantify this.

If someone said to me the best programs now, its Bama Clemson OSU.
If you want to go to the BCS era broadly, bring in the Florida and LSU types.
If we want to extend to the poll era broadly, now you are including the ND and USC and Oklahoma types.

Best teams all time is a very different answer to me, and yes, it includes the teams that were great in the early part of the 20th century including Ivys.

Auburn is a top 15 or so program. But not really any higher.

I think I get what you’re saying, but Auburn and other like programs, don’t care. They are used to winning and/or want the taste and will make abrupt changes to get there. I think many Auburn feelings felt the program got stale. Yes, we would take 6-4, but they want National Championships again, or at least be in contention

Agreed. He is a good coach. It's important to note, and this is not me making a judgment on whether this was a good or bad move by Auburn, that often, firings are not an indictment on a coach as a person. He may be a great guy. People at Auburn may have really wanted him to succeed. And beyond that, people at Auburn may think he CAN succeed...elsewhere. He just may not have been getting it done there, and there may have been a belief that whatever level of success they were attaining at Auburn, that the school, fans, programs, alumni, and athletes deserved more.

Liberty is not P5, though. They’re Liberty. They have no moral conscience. And their AD was at Baylor with Briles.
