Bad Losses

That DePaul loss was amazing. Not only did they beat us by 39 points (worst loss ever in the JB era), but they scored 108 points against us. Only two other teams have scored more against us. George Washington (11/16/94) who beat us 111-104 and UConn in the 6 OT game (117).

You would think our worst loss ever would have been against a national powerhouse, but DePaul was unranked. And get this - three games after the DePaul embarrassment, we beat the #2 ranked team in the nation - UConn. Go figure.

We had no answer for Haynes and Bain. Who? Exactly.

Nova brought their pep band to the Dome in those days and they were sitting right next to us. Just a miserable afternoon.

If it's any consolation Nova was beat by Providence at home this year and the Providence played a 2-3 zone the entire second half. It made me feel good after going to two Villanova games and the Orange losing and then suffering the post game commentary during the walk to the parking lot.

Bad losses don't have nearly as much weight to the committee as good wins. I would say it's almost irrelevant - but it does hurt our RPI.

Fun fact - Richardson shot a combined 4% from three in the three losses against Wisconsin, Georgetown and Saint John's. 1 for 23. 0-11 against the Johnnies.

The rest of the season? 42%.

Yes, after the nightmare of DePaul, we go to the miracle of Gerry's Big East Tournament. To be at the bottom of a huge, dark pit and then suddenly be flung into the stars - it was quite the ride!

GW was on OT game as well, so DePaul scored the most in regulation vs. a JB team.
