The win was fantastic. I'm back on board and will actually be nervous for a game again when we play Wake.

I went to the game in Atlanta and sat through that abomination of basketball. I'll probably never miss a Cuse basketball or football game in the GA/SC area where I live.

You deserve hoops fan version of a purple heart for that

Divisiveness. Trending bigly. SAD!

We beat a not so much good team, enduring a scandal, without its best recruit, with an interim(?) newbie coach, who inexplicably stopped doing the stuff that got them back into the game. A potentially important win that says not so much about the quality of our own team.

A question, though: did we change a bit last night? A little more player movement—even though some of it looked 'unproductive?' A little more ball movement? Fewer tirades and more suppport from JB?

Masterful,

This is where Eric15 justifies all his negativity because he can’t help himself because he is so “emotionally invested”

And as the “piece de la resistance” of his argument, he suggests that others should share his level of upset.
Adults handle their emotions children lash out.

In your prior post you wrote, "Some of the other targets of this great initial post in this thread are laying low hoping things will blow over." Isn't this the definition of a strawman? You can't possibly think there are posters here who don't want us to keep winning.

The problem is posters with an agenda, whether it's pro or con , that colors everything they say. They lose credibility after a while. Most posters here say good things about good thing and bad things about bad things. Then they do the math.

I love it when you speak French to us:)

It depends, I think, on what that criticism is and how incessant it is.

Being a fan of a team is not a license to say whatever comes into you head without consequence. That is, if you want to taken seriously.

You were holding the rope in the front of the small mob in that thread about it being time for JB to retire, I think
Im a huge fan of Jim but i also criticize some of his actions just like im criticized by people who know and respect me. As to Jim retiring i believe that he should have honored his commitment. Is he still a great coach no doubt. I actually think that if not for his Son he would retire and i believe it is time. I also believe that he is re energized now that this is completely his team again and the Elephant in the room is in Seattle.

So you are a “huge fan of Jim’s” who thinks he ought to retire? Why do you think he ought to retire sooner rather than later?

And his commitment (or more correctly “the agreed-to plan”) was that he would retire and Hopkins would take over dissolved when Mike decided to take the UW job.

Of course, if you are among those who believe that Boeheim, Hopkins and Wildhack are all lying through their teeth, than I can’t square that with your status as a “big fan”.

Not unsurprisingly some have mistaken the Kabuki theater of coaching with post-loss whining of the Negatoids.

These are two different things.

But it is surprising that an over-the-Hill, past-his-prime”, old fogey can demonstrate so much passion and energy.

I think it's possible for someone to appreciate JB and be a big Syracuse fan, and think JB may be hanging on too long at the same time. Why do these negate one another?

I wish just once you would put as much analysis into the actual discussions of the game instead of focusing so much of your energy on the posters here.

Is that too much to ask Mr. James Arthur ...

Saying you appreciate JB’s past contributions is pretty thin gruel if it is followed by then throwing everything at him but the kitchen sink.

ORRange just destroyed your comments about the last minute of the game —- after which you tried to cover your tracks by saying you meant something completely different —- and now you want to talk about the details of the game?

I’d rather talk to you about your constant dissatisfaction.

No, it seems like a recognition that it's unlikely that a career trend is a straight diagonal ascending line. The discussion should be 'how much deference has he earned' for "past contributions." And there are people who just can't deal with the variability of opinion on that assessment.

I actually think I was correct in my statements. But hey, keep on keeping on...

Ok. But does that mean that every time someone wants to be critical of JB they have to first list all of his accomplishments?

Isn't saying JB should be revered and appreciated for what he has done at Syracuse enough? Or does someone have to make a running list of every achievement before anything critical can be said.

IMO, some people are so sensitive that any critical post is seen as an attack.

A conversation about how much deference he should be given for past contributions seems to cede the point that he isn’t doing the best possible job that could be done under the circumstances now.

He hasn’t forgot how to coach. He’s smarter than he was, not dumber. He is as competitive as he ever was.

Frustrated fans looking for someone to blame for the failure of SU basketball to live up to their expectations or the level to which they are entitled as fans.

There’s nobody I would rather have in charge in this difficult period.

Of course, when you are in your den imagining that there are coaches that would be willing to come to SU and that would do a better job than JB, then it’s easier to say “throw the bum out”.

My view is that the Boeheim era at SU is “the good old days” Enjoy them while you can, guys.
