jerkoff. lol You have no idea what I had to do to read this thread. And this is what I got. You will pay dearly Toga!!!
Yeah, and then have Lydon come from Gillon's side and take him out, because you know he wouldn't have seen him.I think a bunch of us would have paid money to see Gillon and Frank take a turn in those suits squared up on each other...
What was Barkley like? Because I picture him being cool with the players and not giving you the time of day.In the 1993-94 NBA season, I was one of the two "official" Sumo wrestlers for the NJ Nets.
Each home game I'd represent a section in the arena and compete against another guy - also in a Sumo suit.
Whichever Sumo guy was victorious won a $25 gift card to Foot Locker for every person in their section.
Late in the season, Jayson Williams (yes, THAT Jayson Williams) broke away from a Chuck Daly-led timeout huddle and blindsided me - knocking me flying 10+ feet in the air.
That moment ended up being one of ESPN's "plays of the year" for 1994.
True story.
BTW, killing aside, Jayson Williams was one of the nicest guys on that team. He and Rick Mahorn invited me out for drinks at Houlihan's on Route 3 in Secaucus many times. We even met Charles Barkley there and stayed well after closing once.
One other person who joined us often was none other than Bill Rafferty. He loved that I went to Cuse and would talk Cuse hoops with me all the time.

That is great to hear. Great story. Thank you.Barkley was beyond nice.
As an employee of the Nets, I was given free tickets to every game. At that particular game, I had 3 friends with me and Barkley was engaging and funny all night long.
One of my friends initially addressed him as "Mr. Barkley" and Charles immediately said, "I'm just Chuck and I'm a regular guy just like you. What can I buy you to drink?."
He ultimately paid the entire tab of several hundred dollars for me, my 3 friends, Mahorn and Jayson Williams.
And he was polite to each and every autograph seeker who approached all night (5 or 6 total).
Im shocked Battle didn't get hurt doing this, the way things have been going for us lately.
Battle actually just declared for the Sumo draft and will sign an agent.
You have completely changed by view of Barkley.Barkley was beyond nice.

Finally, I was mistaken for Nets backup Rex Walters tons of times. Apparently a white guy who hangs near NBA players must be on the team.
In an interview with Rick Quan, Rex Walters responded to the question of feeling that he was a pioneer for Asian-Americans. He responded – "I consider myself Japanese-American. I just don't look it. People are always surprised. Now we got a guy like Jeremy Lin breaking barriers, I'd like to think I played a small part in that". He later added, "People ask me who I am? What I am? I am a Japanese-American, I take great pride in that."Wasn't Rex Walters half Japanese? I vaguely remember him as being one of the first Asian players in the NBA
