BC at Pitt Friday 7:00 PM

Not sure why people are watching this, well I do for entertainment but not from a scouting purpose. Loooooong time until we play these 2

Conner runs high like Jerome, but he has real burst.

Rouse representing.

I don't follow recruiting at all, nor too many other teams in college ball, but Tyler Boyd is impressive. What star was he?

I can see this kid playing on Sundays. Passes the eye test- hands, size, eyes. Wow. That route he just ran was a thing of beauty.

Dominating the BC secondary right now.

Boyd was a big time recruit out of Pittsburgh. Stayed home to play for Pitt. Offers from Notre Dame, Michigan State, Penn State, etc.

Probably helped his recruiting since Pitt has had big time receivers since the turn of the century; Antonio Bryant, Larry Fitzgerald, Jonathan Baldwin, Devin Street.

Yep. We had the same secondary against Pitt last season and held up fine.
Very true. Our DBs worry me a bit but hopefully they will hold up against most of our competition including Pitt. Pitt looks quite solid BC looks quite pedestrian.

I am unable to watch. Is this game ACC worthy or Big East worthy? Does it matter? Do you think anyone south of Pa cares? Do you think the announcers even know who John Congemi/Alex Van Pelt or Glenn Foley/Scott Mutryn are? ;)

Opus it looks like P5 FB...decent atmosphere and P5 athletes

Dave Flemming -- the PxB guy -- has a master's from Newhouse. (Also one in classics from Stanford -- dummy.)

Conner is going to be tough to stop. What a load that kid is.

yea first half i thought we could hang tough with these teams - second half - pitt looks ahead of us. Chryst is a good coach and has his system. Pitt will be competitive if he stays around. Connor is bigger than AAM and faster. Boyd is an athlete. Holtz is a legit TE and their D is solid enough with Gonzalez in the middle. They took some big injuries to their lineman today.

Murphy will be good if he can improve his accuracy from the pocket.

Murphy's throwing motion looks like something straight out of the 80s. Saw lots of throws that look like that watching all of those classic Syracuse games this summer.

I had the Pitt game as a loss before the season and this game does nothing to change my mind. Good news is you never know what will happen 10 weeks from now. Oh and BC is very beatable.

I has to google the game to find out the final score.

why hate bye weeks we just need to go our and play... Still think ga tech was more painful bye week but seems like some of u think we lost to nova the same way... Week from now can't get here soon enough

pitt is surprisingly impressive---actually glad to see it(traditional foe) they looked prepared and on a mission----the opposite of what we looked like---hoping that changes

BC has a running threat at QB we aren't very good against dual threat QBs as you know. That worries me
right now i am waiting to see just what we will be good at. running game maybe?

This is ACC worthy.

Great eastern football contest - what many of us grew up on.

It's great that the ACC has preserved some of what we used to watch with SU, BC and Pitt.

Anyone else watching this? Absolutely pathetic crowd. Students are making some noise, though. Both teams look more dynamic on offense than they did last year. Still early.

Yes, the place looked empty.

Just too much competition for the Boston sports fan.

You understand that was Syracuse's scouting report from like 1995 to 2004.

Lets see, Fiesta, Liberty, Gator, Orange, Music City, Insight, Champs.

Give me that scouting report now.

Bring in Temple and we would have a nice old timey 4 team eastern pod. Temple football looks like it has finally gotten serious, ask Vandy , now if they can beat State Penn.

Yes, except Temple was never part of the old eastern football/Lambert Trophy block of PSU, BC, Pitt, SU, and WVU - and perhaps Navy, Army and even Maryland.

if the Orange can get their act together, the last 2 weeks of the Orange's season could be some awesome northeast football as the 3 teams battle it out for bowl representation.

bc goes vpi, louisville, fla st then the Orange.

pitt goes dook, unc, the Orange, then miami.

its likely that all 3 teams will need those 2 games to dance.

our last 4 are the schedule you want...

Not sure what to conclude after watching this game.

Boston College was not very impressive on either side of the ball.
BC transfer QB Tyler Murphy was 10/28 for 134 yards (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD and 2 Int - a QBR of 44.5. He carried 16 times fr 92 yards with a 51 yard long. On 15 carries he averaged 2.7 yards The rest of the team carried 18 times for 5 yards matching Murphy's total but only averaged 2.8 ypc.

BC won't win many conference games with that type of offensive effort.

On defense they seemed game enough but gave up 303 yards rushing (James Conner has 214 of them on 36 carries, a 5.9 average). This against a team that ran the ball on 78% of their plays.

I was not at all impressed with BC at this stage.

Pitt was more interesting.
They ran the ball down the Eagles throats and played old fashioned football, controlling the clock winning the TO battle and committing only 6 penalties for 55 yards. Tyler Boyd was impressive, especially in the red zone - 2 of his 5 catches were for TDs.

Chad Voytik was 10 for 20 for 111 yards (5.6 ypa) with 2 TD.s and 1 pick - a QBR of 66.3.

It is hard to measure the Pitt D as BC was anemic on offense.

But for our disappointing performance against Nova, I think we would b e feeling pretty good about both these games even though both are end of season road games. Neither team has a particularly frightening passing game and run D is usually our strength.

hard to really tell if Pitt ran well or not, so many of the yards were conner slipping tackle after tackle. Im not sure all teams will do that, but he is tough to bring down. BC did a poor job at the Dline on rush D but drilled the pitt QB on passes plays in the first half. Pitt has options, a tough RB , a very good WR, and the qb runs enough to keep you honest. BC had really just the QB running around creating offense. but he is really just a great athlete playing QB, not a QB thats a great athlete.

until our oline shows something there are few winnable games left.
