BC Game Thread...

I wouldn't say that. They came out an improved the run defense. But they never solved the wide open TE crosses. At least they tried to improve

LOL...BC's back had over 130 yards in the first half. Over 400 yards rushing last week and UL put in their 2nd/3rd stringers in the 3Q. Wake 2nd half...

I like to think I'm a realistic fan. I wasn't expecting Syracuse to waltz over BC given the injuries and issues. I was absolutely prepared for BC to win. But I thought it would be a competitive hard fought game. I didn't think BC would waltz in and just take our lunch money without breaking a sweat. This is humiliating.
My point exactly. I didn't expect to win. I did expect to compete.

Dude, I get that we can't win. I don't get that we can't compete at all. 43-5 against Wake. Over 50 pts against the Ville. This today against B.C.. Lose, okay. Not compete. That is different.
A lot of that is on the offense too. Hence Culpepper playing. We go 3 and out burning 15 seconds off the clock, we are giving the other team a ton of time to rip off plays.

Remember when Marrone came and moved all of his best players to defense (Hogue, Smith, etc)? We initially went the other route, spending a lot of time recruiting larger offensive lineman and WR’s for the system.

We are slowly adding length on defense, but I think we are really going to have to keep stuffing the D with grad transfers and JUCOs for another year or 2.

I mean. Every one and their mother knew it was a Dillon run up gut there

Wow. 18 yarda

Dude - we have two safeties out. Bradshaw has one arm (I think we finally took him out today), and our two senior lbs probably shouldn’t be playing.

That’s the primary difference right there.

That being said, the size differential between BC and SU is actually shocking. We must absolutely get bigger up front. As great as Bennett and Franklin have been for us, we are still undersized our there. Combine that with J Thomas and 2 out of our 3 lbs are safety size.

Finally, I just don’t think our backups are ready to play. Some of that is on staff too. Carl Jones has been misaligned on 4 or 5 snaps, one of which was costly.

They have to do a better job getting these kids ready to go, but also a lot of these kids shouldn’t be called on out there either.

Bennett played the whole first half with his leg completely wrapped. Guthrie has him arm wrapped and in some sling thing yet he’s playing DE. Franklin is limping. We have backups across the back. Robinson got hurt this week. It’s a mash unit on defense. But we have some geniuses on the board who could figure it out.

Prime example of a kid that probably shouldn’t be getting called upon. Looked like me lowering the shoulder on my six year old.

I was saying coming out of half time. Heck it improved in 2nd quarter as well. Dillion had 5 carries for 105 at one point. He fell from 20 yards a carry to 9 going into halftime. Then on first drive in 2nd half he only had 1 to 3 yards runs. They are trying to improve as the game goes on

That Carl Jones attempted tackle is the perfect visual metaphor for today.

I am pro Dino because I was anti Shafer.
If Dino isn’t getting it done I will want him gone.
We underachievered in 2012.
The Northwestern loss was because of stupid undisciplined mistakes on that penalty.
I still don’t know how we lost to Minnesota.
The special teams blew the Rutgers game.
Cincinnati we kicked attempted a 48 yard FG and the refs called back a pick 6.

I am not blaming Marrone but that team should have been better than 7-5.

Listen, I don’t disagree with you. Teams lose games they should have won but when a team is pretty decent you always walk away with the feeling that, “if only this had happened” etc.

I’m also pro DB and more than happy to give him 2 more years regardless of how next year plays out (let’s assume the whole season doesn’t go like the end of this season).

I’m just sick of anytime people question things about this staff, they’re being negative and “so just don’t follow the team then” idea . I’m also a little discouraged by some of the playcalling and decision making the 2nd half of the season. It’s also annoying the posters who give DB a pass for everything but more than that, the optimism that is borderline RutgersAl. I’m fine with optimism but when it’s just twisting everything to a positive and being critical of anyone questioning anything. It’s annoying. Some of these same posters same the same exact things during the Shafer years. So to hear the same repeat things over again is annoying as hell to me.

I think overall were on the same page with our views actually. We just go about them in different ways.

And, adding salt to the wounds is watching so many of the BC players chumming and laughing it up on the sidelines, etc. This crash & burn since that Clemson win has been absolutely brutal to watch. :(

Don’t you know, Dino has a magic wand he can wave and make people faster and stronger.

#14 on Cuse not hustling on that screen pass for BC first down. Not good!

And I'm buying in all the way. I didn't expect much this year. I expected to beat MTSU but the Clemson win more than made up for that. I understand it takes time. We were way behind in talent. Size and speed. But we should compete better than this.
