BC Postgame Stuff...

Offense was more than fine. The defense gave up over 300 yard on the ground. This wasn't like the PITT game where the turnovers kill the game with pick 6 after pick 6. This game was all lost on the defensive side of the ball

Offense turned it over twice, safety and stalled out a bunch. It was less than fine. We lost time of possession.

I said before but I think it was a mistake to use the two timeouts down 9 when BC had the ball. If we saved them then we would've gotten the ball back down 9 with about 2:20 to 2:25 left with all 3 timeouts and the 2 minute warning so basically 4 timeouts.

Then you know how fast you have to score and if you need bigger plays plus you can kick the field goal early if you think the best path is FG to save time then TD. Not to mention the clock stops after a first down to set the chains in the final 2 minutes of each half.

Using the timeouts down 9 made it so when we scored we didn't leave enough time or timeouts so we had to get the onsides kick.

What's really crazy is this team has a crazy good QB, likely the last good pocket passer we see in an orange uniform, and the team still lost to 2 awful teams and got embarrassed by pitt... On top of that, they are a couple bad bounces away from being 3-6. GT, VT, UNLV, all could've easily gone the other way (and they worked hard to try and give away NC State). Not a single game has Syracuse truly outclassed an FBS opponent. Thats a huge red flag for next year because the roster will not be even close to this good.

This feels like one of the biggest wasted seasons in Syracuse history...I really don't know when we'll have anything like the favorable conditions of this schedule and roster ever again. We should have 1 loss and be a win against Miami away from the ACC championship game. Now we'll be lucky to be barely .500 next year. Indiana is having the season we should be having in almost exact circumstances. Just so disappointing

That was a gutless, disgraceful loss. They ran it every down with zero threat of a passing game and it didn’t matter. We didn’t show any fight or desire on defense and missed tackle after tackle. Containment seemed to be a foreign concept. I can’t think of one thing our defense did well.

Idiotic decision to not kick the FG with 2:30 left. We could have stopped the clock twice and gotten the ball back with around 1 minute left with a stop. Just a horrific loss
A stop?

If we didn’t use them early, more time would have run off the clock.

They could have gone the other way.

But they didn't.

Game results matter.

People are frustrated and pointing at DART, but maybe DART was the difference in those wins.

Obviously playing 4-down DL more would probably have helped but they are so thin on bodies I don't think they would have lasted anyway.

Tough one. Year One learning experience for coach Fran and co.

If we didn’t use them early, more time would have run off the clock.

I explained it though. We would've had 2:20 to 2:25 left if we didn't use them that drive (we got it with 3:42 left down 9 and only 1 timeout left) with all 3 timeouts left plus the 2 minute warning. It's the better route to go.

Say we're down 9 with all 3 timeouts left and 2:22 left (1:20 off the click for not using those timeouts) then we would've known we needed bigger chunk plays to quickly get in field goal range.. plus the clock stops after first downs to set the chains in the final 2 minutes. We could've gotten into field goal range fast.. kicked the field goal with about 1:15 left and still had all three timeouts left.

Using them early forced us to have to get the onside kick after scoring.

You’re assuming the kick is good and we stop them when we didn’t stop them all day

Our defensive line depth is decimated this result does not surprise me at all
Yeah, the Elijah creepers just cannot see that though, who do you start rotating in in we go to a 4 man fron base??????? Derek McDonald? I do agree we could have hidden what we were doing better including more run blitzes

Yup. Gameday meatheads never cease to amaze me. Is it the alcohol or just low emotional competence? Who knows.
I think way to many people are to negative on here about things but…after the past few weeks I don’t know how you say we won’t lose another games this season. Yes we came back and beat Virginia tech but they didn’t even have their starting quarterback or running back. Got blown out by Pitt. And now just lost to a Boston college team that beat western Kentucky by 1.

Game results do matter, but when you are judging a coaching staff, how close those games end up being is imperative. You aren't going to have a poised and top-level field general next year to lead those late game drives, so now you need to look deeper and say why are they struggling to be prepared for these games. Why are they coming out of bye weeks and losing to inferior talent, why are they letting teams on their 2nd and 3rd string QBs and RBs overperform and push you to the limit week after week.

That is the concern. The staff doesn't need to be perfect, but they need to show growth, I dont think ive seen growth from a scheme perspective. Offense has largely been Kyle making plays and defense has been saved by some halftime adjustments but come out with the wrong scheme each and every week.

Why does how much they beat Western Kentucky by matter?
