...what has made the PSU incident(s) worse in the public eye, if anything could make charges of child abuse anything but, is the manner in which PSU reacted and held hands to keep information from leaking out of the school.
Let's not forget that the NEWHOUSE school is one of the BEST journalism schools in the world. WE should understand and know how to investigate this story...what is best for the University and for those being charged. Remain calm...do not go so far out on the limb that you cannot get back to reality in a respected way.
Do I believe Bernie to be innocent; yes...for several reasons. The previous investigation (presume 'Cuse is less insular than PSU) and therefore was handled in a professional way to find the facts--not hide the facts. Interestingly, PSU did not report facts but chose initially to hide that something had happened. We must go in the opposite direction. There are charges...an investigation will be repeated and the chips will fall where the may.
It does 'Cuse, our alumns, and fans no good to overeact and to dismiss any charges as fraud...we can dismiss them in our hearts and mind because we believe that Bernie is a good guy and that the University would not cover up a bad situation...however, our actions and reactions are being assessed by the world --is 'Cuse is different from PSU...that difference is not only determined by guilt or not; but also what was done to prove/disprove the supposed charges...and how the 'Cuse Community reacts.
Let's demonstrate to Syracuse area, north country, ny state, and the country and world...that Syracuse is an honorable institution that will handle these charges in a professional non hysterical way...we are beyond over reaction by being a student...we are responsible and we will handle this with an open mind and Calmness...this is going to hurt a lot of people...whether true or false...but let the chips fall where they may...hold our head high and know we did the right thing in evaluating, investigating and then determining what took place----Damn this is going to hurt but it doesnt have to be messy......lets do this right...and hopefully anyone bringing false charges has to pay a price that is equal to what their actions have done to sully the reputation of 'Cuse, Bernie and all the community.
