Here's a list of offensive players out:

  • 1st string QB
  • 2nd string QB (Dungey)
  • 3rd String QB (long broken hand)
  • Starting center in Trudo
  • Starting WR in Ish
  • Starting HB in Erv
  • Starting TE in Parris
Not thrilled with the second half but of we get those guys back by USF I feel decent about making a bowl.

I must be crazy but I still see 6 wins. We are a different team with Eric at QB. We look like a real team.

I would love to see all come back but getting the 1st string QB by then is going to be a little tough back don't you think:D

He's by far the most dynamic QB we've had since McNabb.

Not saying he's better than Nassib, mind you - but he's easily more "dynamic."
Well, he is better than Ryan was as a freshman. And probably as a sophomore. He makes all the throws.

Definitely agree there. He's going to be a GREAT college QB as long as he stays healthy.

Oh more injury excuses.

Hello we played a MAC school.

I general, I'm on board with the "injuries are no excuses", routine. Not in this case. We go from dynamic to Middle School-level on O when we go from Dungey to the others. Hunt is passable, and you should be able to win 6 games with him (would have been, before he got injured..at any rate). With the remaining guys? Not a chance.

OTOH, the other guys mentioned (Ish, Erv, Parris, Trudo) do have replacements that should be more than enough for ooc play. And what we saw from the pass defense today is inexcusable.

To be fair, CMU is actually a pretty strong team. They played Oklahoma State (who is ranked) real tough. I definitely agree that we should have won with a lot less stress but CMU is no slouch of a team this year.

(Ted Taylor made a couple decent plays) ;)

When you play a walk on at QB there is some legitimacy.

Not really, our offensive line was pathetic and our defense was pretty close.

Excited to win, but there is no reason for us to be in the position we were in that game.

We had a 5th string walk on QB in during overtime.

I think that you are stating to lose perspective. We are a young thin team to begin with. True frosh RS all over the field. Give some credit man we played our hearts out and found a way to win. This team and staff deserve a ton of credit and by the way the Chips are a pretty good football team

And we absolutely WOULD have handled them differently if not for Dungey getting knocked out. We were on the verge of blowing them out until he got hurt.

Oh, more knee jerk reactions from the sofa of a premium subscription in Mattydale.

That MAC school is probably top 2 in their league. A MAC school just went into Arkansas and beat them last week. The one we just played gave Okie St all they could handle in week one. I doubt Okie ST was missing 6 starters on offense either.

Look, this team needs any wins they can get. Were we totally outplayed in the second half? Absolutely. Did I mention that I wasnt thrilled with the game in my initial post?

We won 3 football games last season. Let that sink in, 3. What the hell makes you think we could miss half of our starting offense and roll anyone? We were playing a walk on QB for christsakes.

Making a bowl this season is a huge accomplishment. We are halfway there. My lord.

So playing a walk on at QB is a non issue in your eyes? I never said we didn't have issues but of you expect production out of a guy who would have been 5th string if long was healthy has a huge impact on many facets of the offensive game.
