Huh? They are reasons outside of our control that helped us win games. Just like the reverse.
ya, exactly my point. Injuries happen, sometimes in your favor, and sometimes not.

Today was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from this team.
The above statement is the most hyperbolic hyperbole in the history of mankind.
And if you thought today was embarassing, clearly you never witnessed early 90s losses to both East Carolina and Tulane
OR losses such as:
49-0 to Miami and 43-0 to WVU in 1993
OR
31-0 to BC in 1994
OR
62-0 to VT and 24-21 to a horrible Rutgers team in 1999
OR
59-0 to Miami in 2001
OR
51-7 to VT in 2003
OR
51-0 to Purdue and 34-24 to a terrible Temple in 2004
OR seemingly every game over four seasons from 2005 through 2008 under Gerg
OR
59-3 to FSU in 2013... And the list could go on.
The defense didn't look strong today, but it was far from an "embarrassing performance" - especially since SU won AND won with multiple key players out.
Remember, a more productive offense takes pressure off the defense and gives them time to both rest and regroup.

Do not forget for a second that these players are kids, they are 18-22 years old and what they showed me today was damn impressive. There is no doubt in my mind that if Dungey doesn't get that cheap shot that SU steamrolls CMU and everyone on this board is saying " Bring on LSU". But Dungey going down means that CMU no longer has to respect SU's air attack, they stack 8 in the box and Syracuse cant get a first down. But this defense that was getting shredded in the 3rd quarter, some how manages to get a turnover, then another turnover. The Defense that is deflated going into OT stops CMU and holds them to a field goal, That offense that didnt get a 1st down in the second half somehow manages to score the Winning TD in OT. Thats Heart, you cant teach that, you either have it or you don't. I guarantee you these kids learned more about themselves today than they would have if Dungey didn't get hurt, lessons like these are what turns a kid into a man. They didn't give up, they didn't stop grinding, and they picked up one of the hardest victories of their life. A lot of teams would have lost if they faced the adversity Syracuse did today and I am damn proud they are "MY" team right.
Luke Arcinega played great as well. One of the only other defensive players to step up and make a play.Dungey is the real deal. I'm really excited to see 4 years of him.
And don't forget about Riley Dixon saving our bacon either. IMO he should have gotten the game ball.
I must be crazy but I still see 6 wins. We are a different team with Eric at QB. We look like a real team.
For those who know me, I'm pretty level headed and I was upset as anyone how this game unfolded, BUT do me and all REAL fans a favor take the Cuse out of your handle and stop following this team. I have season tickets and there is a lot to like about this team and the future that includes the staff. If you can't see that and the problems that affected t his game, then you really should step away from watching and commenting.I live in Atlanta but flew up for ND last year and watched us get dismantled by Ga Tech 2 years ago.
I don't know why anyone would want to get season tickets to Syracuse Football though. Seriously, aside from fierce loyalty, why would anyone want to buy season tix to this team, with this coach and this style?
Today was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from this team. It showed how embarrassingly far off we are from competing on a serious level. I don't expect us to ball out with these injuries but I do expect competence and a higher than High School Varsity level performance.
I am a big Wayne Morgan fan, but he looked as bad as everyone else in the secondary. He got smoked on the play down the sideline. My point is is that they all have work to do if we are going to go to a bowl. This game will be a lesson for the remainder of the season. Also we have had top 40 ranked D's for most of the past 7 years soooo? I'm not happy with the secondary - but they are young and inconsistent. And they will get better.
Are you kidding me?! that is not an excuse. playing past your 2nd string qb would be detrimental for any team (except ohio state)Oh more injury excuses.
Hello we played a MAC school.
All the Dbacks made poor plays today, but I am tired of hearing how Winfield is this athletic freak, for cripes sake just make your tackles, and be in defensive position keep the dang athletic freak crap.I am a big Wayne Morgan fan, but he looked as bad as everyone else in the secondary. But was he a star? Waste of a scholarship.Ted Taylor played
Don't forget Long is out right now...he was probably the de facto 2nd stringer behind Hunt if he was healthy. To their 1st and 2nd string QB's two years in a row? Really?
And no one is getting a pass for last year. The injuries are a part of it. So was the horrible hire and demotion of Mc. . . . it and bad coaching and talent etc.
You cannot write them off like they don't exist. That's not being objective at all.
I was on the field...he threw a great ball...he could make the NFL if he keeps improving.I know it's the pitiful MAC but I wonder if Cooper Rush is going to be one of the better passing QBs we see this year.

And my point is you can't discount them as excuses when we play poorly and then use them as reasons why we won when the other team has a bunch.
They play a part in every game, but when it's a QB or 2 - it's magnified.
