and not much chatter.

Huge opportunity for Babers to show SU is well along on the improvement curve. Finishing a regular season with four losses has happened since 2001.

Name opponent in a season depth spiral and two weeks to prepare. Hope the focus was getting Dungey out of the gate in a positive way, recovering and falling short is still falling short. Time to not put the team behind and come out and take control early and let FSU scramble. And they are a team that hasn't handled adversity well.

Hey Dino and Eric, get it done.

I agree and I think part of the reason is that our fan base is too confident that we are going to win. This is a huge game and a huge opportunity, one that may not come around again for a while because even when HCDB gets us rolling - playing with the Noles on the road is not going to happen often.

FSU, like the coach sai,d is only a few plays away from being 5-2 or 6-1, they just didnt show up last week. At least Clemson came back multiple times to put pressure on us. We need to finish plays.. Dont drop the INTs, dont kick the FGs, dont dig the early hole. I dont expect them to give us 2 tds like they did BC, but still the D is making too many good plays to not have any TOs go our way at least a couple times in one of these games.

FSU will be playing wounded so we cant add to that energy with mistakes of our own.

I don't think this at all. I have read very little that assumes we'll win here or elsewhere.

I think the reason the buzz is lessened is that FSU is lessened. A loss and no one would be surprised. A win and no one would be surprised. It's important for the fanbase and it's important for a bowl bid (and I personally think anytime you beat Clemson and FSU in the same season, when both were considered national title contenders in the preseason - is huge) - but nationally - it's two middle of the road ACC teams.

Wat.

Nobody should be expecting a win but we have a helluva chance. I do think the fact that we're coming off a bye week and a loss, even if it was close, combined with the fact that we're heading into wounded lion's den is making everyone cautiously optimistic.

Huge opportunity for SU and it feels like we truly have a chance. The defense has been good and we get two important players back, our offense has a true system & a leader, and our special teams are helping to keep us in games. We've had two weeks to get healthier and prepared for our last four game stretch and SU fans live in Florida in significant numbers. We have a coach that inspires and is pretty good at the chess match played between coaches. I don't think we've had better circumstances headed into an important game on the road. The team's chance to move up a level has arrived and it won't be lost on them. A good start would go a long way toward seizing that opportunity...

I will say this:

If our tempo gets going it really tilts the scales.

- A team that has shown no heart gets tired faster
- They play soooo slow tempo-wise and don't get 3rd downs or score
- So, tempo + tired FSU D + bad slow offense = potential

(Of course, if we come out and see a D that is playing for pride and our O gets into a funk like it does - I could see tempo being mitigated and a low scoring loss)

There is an old axiom in boxing that states: "fatigue makes cowards out all of us"

We need to start fast, put their D on their heels and wear them down. In recent games, FSU's body language changes once they get behind. It appears to me that Jimbo might have lost this group.

I would not be surprised to see some trickery early from Dino. We know he’s not afraid to use it. A trick play for a score early could make FSU slump their heads again. Don’t underestimate what the mental voice saying “not this again” can do to a team.

I said it earlier in the week, our tempo is like body punches in boxing. With the potential for FSU to break down mentally, hopefully the tempo will be the difference if the game ends up being a tight one through 2 - 3 quarters.

If FSU is really sleeping and SU gets up early, I'd like to see a surprise onside by Murphy. I don't ask for much.

Their QB was rattled last week at BC and he was also dinged up. Slayton or other DL get to him a few times and our chances to win are good.

I agree with your post except for your comment about Clemson. That middle of the road ACC team is currently in the top 4 of the only poll that matters. Florida State is NOT a middle of the road ACC team - that's being way too kind.

should be about 80 degrees at kickoff and a 4 mph breeze.

Personally i'm terrified. The team can totally win at FSU!? never thought that would happen. Also scared FSU will actually put together a good game. I don't know. If Cuse puts together a complete game (which IMO they haven't all year) then they will win.

This feels like a classic SU trap game, not trap in the traditional sense, an SU trap. It's where a couple of things start to happen during the season and we start to feel good about ourselves again, FSU is down, we are up, they can't score, we score lots, etc and then the bottom falls out, they punch us in the jaw like they are supposed to and everyone loses faith. This is still a road game, in Tallahasee, and against team who's recruiting makes ours look FCS level. I really want people to keep this stuff in perspective if we lose. That being said...

My fault - wrote that without coffee blasting through my veins... I meant that FSU and Syracuse are two middle of the road teams. Clemson is still the class of the conference.

I worry that the game will be similar to the Bill/Jets game last night. A road game against an opponent that knows it is playing to preserve the chance of a post-season spot. I suspect FSU will start out ferociously, especially on defense. Blitzes and a little something extra on tackles, or even just after. If SU can maintain its composure and play within their capabilities, there is a good chance of a win. Start pressing (like the beginning of the Miami game) and reacting to any FSU chippiness...big trouble.

yeah - this is true. We've been so snakebit/incompetent for so long it feels too familiar.

That shows how beat down we are - hopefully Dino has that feeling quashed in the locker room

Defeating FSU at their home is going to take a real big effort. There is a chance.
