Biggest Surprise So Far O/D

And credit to the current staff, adjusted after last year, for bringing in a solid class of 2020 that included a bunch of defensive players who were ready to contribute from day 1, and for getting the new system implemented / high performing so quickly.
The job done by White teaching, game planning and utilizing the available talent - let alone doing this during the chaos that is COVID - can't be overstated. We need to make sure we keep him. Home run hire.

Some credit to former DC Ward? We also have a strong defensive bunch in the 2021 cycle. Credit to current staff.

It's both -- so for sure, give Ward [and not just him, but the entire former staff] credit for having brought in the quality components who transitioned easily into the 3-3-5 and were good system fits, before White came on board.

Just to clarify, that class of 2020 was put together before our current DC was hired. He inherited some good recruits.

Dakota will be back soon
I assume it would come down to is he better then tisdale or is it close enough that you want to use him in other roles ?
And extreme outside chance bliech wins appeal ?
Have to think Dakota moves in for Tisdale. He hasn’t been great. Elmore has been much better than Tisdale.

Positives ... Too many guys on defense to name. Yes, they didn’t tackle well Saturday, but they still flashed enormous potential. Hanna, not even on most radar screens, played a hell of a game and led in tackles and had an interception. Jones has been great. Linton has NFL potential. Garrett Williams, so damn solid you forget he is starting for the first time. The D line has been outstanding, and good to see Roscoe making his name. Iffy, Cisco and Trill are what we hoped they would be. Would have been easy to name six or seven other guys equally deserving.
Elmore may have saved the season. What if he had balked and sat out instead of moving his senior season into a new position that he hadn’t played since middle school? What a warrior. Nykeim is the real deal. Could give us Erv Phillips production out of the slot and is a tremendous return guy. Taj takes some criticism, but his ability to break tackles is extraordinary. Tucker has been outstanding, but give Hackett credit, coming off an injury, for sacrificing his stats and body to play fullback in ISO.
Still, bottom line is 1-2. But it’s not the 1-2 that makes you think more of the same. This team has potential to get much better in a hurry. Don’t know what the rest of the season will bring, but they are making it interesting.

Which is exactly what I said -- no clarification required.

Our TEs are our most proven, productive returning threats. 2.75 Saturdays, this is me looking for our TE's..

Well, not exactly. You gave credit to the adjusted current staff for the 2020 class, which is a fudge. Monroe and Ferri helped in their regions. The position coaches for the LBs and CBs at the time (2019) and the DC during the recruiting phase — gone.

Lots of positives on defense. Impressed by how well the young guys are playing. Hopefully that means the staff can rotate guys in throughout the game and keep them all fresh without losing much of anything in quality. I'll have to go with Cantin-Arku on defense. The guy is everywhere and has the size at middle linebacker that we've been missing for years. Offense is much tougher. Tucker is the obvious choice. I'm going to go with a fingers crossed wishful thinking choice and pick Nykeim Johnson. After his early drop, he came back strong with a couple of nice catches later in the game. If he can gain some confidence and hang on to the ball, he could provide a secondary WR threat. Like I said, fingers crossed.

Come on guys, no love for reedny for the Alien Tape comment?!

Completely agree about the defense. Personally, I think one of the reasons they're playing so well is that DC White has simplified assignments (compared to last year) which allows the players to fly around. No more read and react BS. If you're going to make a mistake...make it going full speed instead of getting caught in between in nowhere land.

As others have said, we need to improve the tackling which I'm sure will be addressed during the bye week.

I said that the pieces were already in place for the transition to the 3-3-5 from the last several classes. You're making it weird by drumming up some manufactured nonsense about Ward not getting credit, which was easily inferred by me saying the pieces were already in place. I certainly made no dig about the previous staff members -- I was giving them credit, which was readily obvious from my initial two posts in this thread -- one of which directly credited Ward and his former defensive staff. The point you're making about the 2020 class is pedantic, given what I wrote.

Do you think he plays OG all year?

Such an interesting question bc if he does, he will for sure keep getting better and yes, maybe we find an OG by default. The flip side is , guys come available and don't get the reps and work they need and have maybe earned previously. Tough call and God bless Rhino for giving our O all he has and a shot.

The three highest individual Pro Football Focus grades this season for us are Marlowe Wax, Robert Hanna & Nolan Cooney.

Obviously early and Hanna & Wax haven't played that many snaps, but imagine guessing those three names as the "leaders" in that stat at the start of the season. All three have been awesome surprises.

Cant give this guy enough credit, not only scheme wise but changing the mindset and approach of a bunch of young guys already recruited to and exposed to another system and voice. This guy is the savior IMHO

Where did you see that?

Where did you see that?

They have all their position grades on their website. You need a subscription to access it. Hanna ranks 14th among safeties right now. Cooney 5th among punters. Wax has not hit the minimum number of snaps to qualify, but he would be right around the top 10 among linebackers in the country.

Other notables:
Garrett Williams: 36th DB
Steve Linton: 29th Edge Rusher
Sean Tucker & DeVito: Both 33rd RB & QB

Is that cumulative, or just last week? I'm curious the individual oline grades from last week. (I know I need to spend the 7.99. Lol)

As I have stated before wax is a downhill lb that loves the hit. He has a Rb mind set that as he comes downhill the actual rb will see the same hole he does and wham he fills it. I’m liking the other guys cause of size and athletic ability but wax will start next year cause he has best run instinct out of all of them. The others seem to wait a sec to see where back is going and wax is already at the line meeting the ball carrier. Love how he plays it.

I also guarantee Dan Conley loves that kid.

Those are cumulative season grades. Unfortunately, don't think I have access to weekly grades even with the 7.99.
