Bills 2024 Thread - Misery loves company

More importantly… who are they going to get that can beat Reid and Spags. The answer as of now is no one. The answer is get better talent… rebuild the secondary and get some receivers. Start with Kupp and go from there. Bills have a ton of cap room this year right? This season was supposed to be a rebuild.

Bills will have a decent amount not a ton. They need an overhaul of the secondary, at least one if not two DTs and more Wr help. I like Kupp but he's hurt all the time and clearly not the dame guy, signing him feels like Von Miller part 2

Honestly, the level of play he got out of the defense this year considering the personnel was unbelievable to me. Top 10 I believe in DVOA with a legitimately bad secondary and our best LBs being in and out of the lineup all year. Not to mention the dead cap and the insane Von Miller contract (granted he was productive this season but in a part-time role).

I think the coaching staff (special teams excluded) did an absolutely fantastic job overall this year and think they were mostly fine tonight. They were not literally perfect but hard to ask for much more from them IMO.

I don't know that we'll ever win a Super Bowl with him, but I don't think it's because he's holding us back. It's just really hard to win a Super Bowl. I wouldn't blame them if they ultimately move on and just hope a new coach gets lucky or whatever but I think he's one of the top 5-10 coaches in the league and he's continued to get better every year (with the exception of challenges, which even after hiring a ref to advise him he still seemingly never wins lol).
To be fair, they were right on the challenge, just not how I thought they were going to be right. It wasn't an INT, but it should have been incomplete.

Of course it's Allen but KC clearly had Allen sneak to the left dialed in, why in the world would you keep calling it? How about Allen on a power run or RPO or a jet sweep or how about a fake qb run pop pass. You've got a Gezelle at QB, put him out on a boot or something
I don’t know Jeremy, ive seen Allen succeed on this exact play sooo many times this year because he is such a load and so determined that I would believe in him every time.

Reid is a HOF coach but come on. The outcoached thing is so over used it’s ridiculous. That game was won and lost by the players and nothing else. A tight end handles a very catchable ball and that game very likely goes the other way.
I agree 100%. The same Andy Reid that was fired because he wouldn’t win the big game In Philly.

outside Reid and McVay, I’ll stick with McDermott and he’s also not going anywhere.

Even Philly got stuffed today on the tush push on a 2pt attempt. It's one think to run it once or twice but at some point a Defense like KC is gonna stop it especially when you literally run it to the same gap EVERY SINGLE TIME.

If you wanna keep sneaking it fine but hoe about an old fashioned up the middle sneak or spread them out in the gun and let Allen get a running start. He did make that left sided tush push the first two times but it'd not gonna work 5+ against KC, they aren't the Jets

I think the offense is largely fine. The Bills lead the league in scoring. Pass rush and the back end is definitely a problem.

The last few 1st round picks have given less then stellar returns
Would help if we just duffed on our own picks instead we do that but also gift players to the chiefs

Agree. If those two areas aren't addressed in some fashion in the offseason that will make a difference, I'm not sure I have it in me to be so emotionally invested next season.

I didn’t get that upset about the call because it was a penalty anyway and the Chiefs were getting a first down. They likely score there anyway and they may have done it in a way where Buffalo didn’t have time to go down and score before the half.

McDermott is a really good coach and has done a hell of a job but the goal is to win or at least get to A SB. At some point the Pegulas are gonna realize that as good as McDermotts been he has a ceiling. I have no idea if another coach would get them over the hump but you also just can't shrug your shoulders and keep running it back and losing in the division or conf championship year after year after year

I get it….its protecting yourself from the steep drop to being demoralized. But the truth is that they were very capable of winning that game.
Yeah that is just a coping mechanism, it hurts to the core if you’re a diehard fan.

No. Buffalo predictably ran a dumb play that was too close to call
The ref who had eyes on the ball ruled it past the line to gain.

The ref who only could see the ball carrier’s back (not the ball) marked it a half yard short.

The fact that they didn’t even spot it and measure it was disgraceful.

Bills didn’t lose the game because of that spot, but it was the single biggest momentum change entirely caused by officiating.

Not players.

That's true. Forgot about the penalty aspect

Between this excruciating loss and the Orange hoop season…..I’m ready to move on to lacrosse.

Pegula lucked into McBeane after the Rex Ryan clown show.

He’s destroyed the Sabres by being the Jerry Jones of the NHL.

Bills fans can only hope his football ignorance is bliss and he strikes gold with a better coach than McD.

I get it, but a Zach Taylor coached team beat them in Arrowhead and I don’t think he’s as good as McDermott. That said his D coordinator he just fired seems to have better game plans than anyone else against Mahomes.

Yup KCs a beast man no matter who you are. just think this staff struggles in the biggest moments. McDermott never conceding how bad he and the old DC screwed up that 13 secs sequence is something I can't forgive. Him not overruling Brady after the 2nd stuff on the tush push is malpractice. I don't know who the answer would be but I just have a hard time seeing this franchise ever getting over the hump with him. Sucks because he's a really good coach but like Reid in Philly sometimes you need to go in a different direction

Never going to happen, it just isn’t. You can’t just make a change for the hell of it because your cocah can’t beat one of the best teams in the 60 years of the NFL. KC is one game away from winning 4 of 5 super bowls.

Zack Taylor beat KC would you rather have him that McDermott? We all know the answer there.

It will happen eventually. Buffalo will fall in the wild card round or lose in the Divisonal to Balt or Chiefs again and they'll make a change. Eventually every owners patience runs out

Great game. Sadly, I think a very thin secondary wound up too hurt to finish off what is ultimately a great season, especially considering this was the season of eating some dead money and moving on from older defensive players.

McDermotts a much better coach but one has beaten KC in the playoffs (and Buffalo) and ones been to the SB. I'd rather get to the SB.

5 years from now sure but not anytime soon
