Boeheim is smart… probably should have listened to him.

If Red doesn’t win and Gerry does than the “problem” will solve itself.
If Red doesn't work out (and I'm still rooting hard for him, despite that I'm now questioning after these two games whether he's up for it), I'd be shocked if Wildhack goes to Gmac even if Gmac's doing well at Siena. If he goes to another assistant who presided over the program's decline and he doesn't work out either, that could be lights out. Not sure why he'd risk it. Better off trying to get someone like Langel at that point. Again, not rooting for it. Just the way I see it.

For the record I don’t think anyone should be fired. It’s just very disappointing to see the product on the floor after two games. I truly can’t believe how far this program has fallen. Neither Lemoyne or Colgate are strong experienced teams. To be within one possession to these two wow. In the end SU pulled both wins out. Let’s hope Autry works things out.

Yeah, I'm hoping we can move the "fired" conversations to after the season. Let's give him a chance to right the ship

While you're right, last year they won by 4 AND had to erase a 24-pt deficit.

The hardest thing about watching sports in the Internet era is that every game is hyper analyzed and definitive conclusions drawn.

Red got a weird roster to 20 wins last year after starting out with some head scratchers so I choose to remain positive...for now.

They weren’t a good team last year. We barely made the NIT. We have to stop acting like last season was good.

Was good for Autry? Sure. But it’s not good for Syracuse basketball. Not close

Autry had 20 wins with a team of malcontents last year. Im giving him time
reds 1st year roster was his choice, too

idk why people just give him a pass for choosing to keep the malcontents around...great job overcoming them...but its still a poor refelcton of his judgment to choose to keep them

it killed reds NET last year too...turning easy wins into nailbiters...so far, its his trademark...and the current metrics abosultely hate it

When you built the program and understand what it takes, the AD should at least listen.
What on earth makes you think that ADJW did NOT listen to JBs thoughts on the matter before making a decision?

If Red had kicked the malcontents out before the season, without them proving to be malcontents publicly, he would've been DRAGGED on this board. It's impressive revisionist history.

I would hope Red isn't constructing his roster based on if he will or will not be "dragged" on a message board. If he wins, everyone will be happy.

Sure. But you cannot dismiss half your team before your first ever season as a collegiate coach, especially when nothing is publicly known.

Ok, before we go any further, Red wanted Mintz back bad.

He basically told Joe to get out of town and tried to get Jesse back as much as he could.

If Benny was let go, no one would have said boo. He already quit the year before.

Copeland was the surprise.

So "half the team" was basically Benny and Quadir.

2 games in, win 20 last year, complete roster overhaul after massive drama with how team was left and built, piecemeal team together, massive upgrade in recruiting, then to compare 2 friends at completely diff places, absolutely freaking crazy. Might take some time. He is still the right guy, by the way last years team was more talented than this one IMO, massive drama however, most left, No? Go Red, expect to be attacked for sure. A good comparison will be Louisville with less of a NIL budget. Thanks

This is not a bash Adrian Autry post. It is not easy to be a head coach at the highest level, especially without having ever served as a head coach before.

That being said, what GMac has done so far and what Autry has done is trending in the direction of SU making the incorrect choice over a year ago.

You can argue a hundred different things, but there are ZERO reasons that Syracuse University men’s basketball should have two wins (yes, wins, give them a little credit) over LeMoyne & Colgate by a combined six points.

Zero reasons. None.
What if I told you the ONE reason that SU men's basketball is struggling to beat Lemoyne and Colgate now is Boeheim?

Gerry has beaten Brown, Bryant, and American by 1, 2, and 8. Those three are 2-5.

Let's pump the brakes
Siena was 4-28 last year. And play in the MAAC. They beat 3 D1 teams. Bryant was a 20-win team last year that we lost to two years ago. Let’s please put it all into perspective.
