I’m on vacation, didnt even know they played. Now back to vacation.
This is a healthy mindset.I’m on vacation, didnt even know they played. Now back to vacation.
Jimmy played 17 minutes while Buddy had 35 minutes. Doubt either Boeheim had any effect on the other’s play. Also, I’m going to say it. Too much double Boeheim. It never worked when both were here. They are more effective not playing with each other. It’s just what most likely the analytics say.
Don’t worry guys, Coach Griff learned from this and will bring his new knowledge to the real season…
Griffin, making his head coaching debut, said he learned some things during the TBT experience. He can store that knowledge, he said, and extract it during Syracuse’s upcoming season.
He can remind players about the perils of hero ball. He can prod them to stay positive when shots don’t fall. He can tell his players that “regardless of how tough it gets, you guys gotta stay together.” He can instill in them the dangers of not getting up for every opponent.
Nothing to worry about.
As for the article, I was hoping to hear from my than Coach and Jimmy. Oh well.
I think we overrate our talent both with the real team and TBT.I can't help but feel like the TBT / Boeheim's Army performances are like a microcosm of the rut our program is mired in.
Good talent, people get excited, and then they generally underachieve because of poor roster construction.
Second round losses to a team of D3 PLAYERS, despite tons of talent and the advantage of playing at home?
Wow.
Eh, maybe. But TBT is a flukey single elim tournament of what basically amount to scrimmages. We have seen that teams with some cohesion do well in this setting. Whereas we had guys step off airplanes, not practice, and then get a lot of minutes.I can't help but feel like the TBT / Boeheim's Army performances are like a microcosm of the rut our program is mired in.

Program has stunk for the better part of a decade. Half the TBT team was players off crappy SU squads with a couple well beyond their prime. Result was completely expected.I can't help but feel like the TBT / Boeheim's Army performances are like a microcosm of the rut our program is mired in.

That's SU's offense since JB has been there, so why change it smh.Too much one-on-one.
Probably wouldn't have been even better if JB was out there coaching as he would have stayed in the 2-3 zone and let that dude kill us too.Should have gone old school box and one
And the hair bob
People here are crazy making comparisons as if there is some sort of connection to what ifs with this team, the players and Griff. Isn't Griff the guy we're sending all over the world and putting on the road traveling 80% of his time watching recruits? Every team needs a guy willing to do that. This gig for him was just that a 2 week gig, someone threw him a bone for doing alot of grinding on the road.
And maybe for once can we just read a puff piece from Syracuse.com without turning it into some big indictment of the program, CNY and everything that went wrong over the last decade.
In case people are wondering why Donna Ditota gets the scoops faster on important things when it matters, it's because she's writing puff pieces right now in July on crap like this that doesn't matter.
The only one I would keep is BS, the other three can go kick rocks.Griffin is overrated and so is the whole coaching staff. They have accomplished nothing in there whole careers combined coaching mens basketball. Pay up for a real coach and we will finally see change.

What a debacle in every facet of the game. Devo must have been sick to his stomach watching the softnessProbably wouldn't have been even better if JB was out there coaching as he would have stayed in the 2-3 zone and let that dude kill us too.

You expected them to lose in the second round, playing at home, to a team comprised of D3 players?
I didn't.
Which is probably more on me than anything. Happy to own that.
I'm just tired of the program [and the broader program, extending to TBT, even if it is peripheral] underachieving to an alarming degree. It's been a LENGTHY decline to this point.
Actually Devo acted like he was in a daze. What a debacle in every facet of the game. Devo must have been sick to his stomach watching the softness
No longer D3 players. Several with high level European professional experience including Nichols who averaged over 20ppg in FIBA EuroBasket Champions league. Also a couple with D League experience. Not saying they are the Thunder but a solid team with decent talent. They lost to the defending champions in last year’s TBT 70-68 after Nichols went out with an injury in the middle of the third. Really thought Pride was the only defender that gave Nichols trouble and wish we would have saw more of that in the second half.I can't help but feel like the TBT / Boeheim's Army performances are like a microcosm of the rut our program is mired in.

All in all TBT provides a pleasant diversion for some of us during the summer doldrums. Not going to read anything more into it than that.
Yeah the more I think about it (and this will be my last TBT thought for at least a year) I agree with you. I think the D3 label, while embarrassing on the surface, isnt a particularly meaningful branding of how good the rosters actually are.No longer D3 players. Not much of a diversion when you lose in the second round.
Which has happened with frequency, despite the advantage of playing at home.
But thanks for the roster clarification. That almost makes me feel "better" about blowing a double digit second half lead in the loss.
Not asking anyone to read anything into TBT, but the parallel seems pretty clear to me.
