Bracket Show

ND was the second place team in the league….and they were among the last 4 in. League was down. Their seed is low…but I think I like their bracket.

Shows how god-awful the conference was this year.

And also shows how God awful, relatively speaking, we were for not being able to capitalize on the conference being so down. Really puts our overall record and conference record in perspective

Michigan -2 against Colorado State.
Providence is -1.5 against South Dakota State.
L-O-L.

Not fully surprising, as lines seem to approximate the KenPom rankings like I typically observe. Per KP, Michigan would be a pick em. And Providence would be a 1.5 point favourite. Doesn't mean there is not any value here - I like Colorado St and Providence at those lines as well.

I was scanning the KenPom ranking today when I was seeding and I was stunned to see them at #49. Probably why I was able to get them at 100-1 to win the tournament a few weeks ago.

That being said I like both your picks.

Michigan making it is a joke IMO. You can't go 17-14 and make it in.

Iowa State come on. Can't go 7-11 in conference no matter how good your conference is. Really need a .500 conference rule to get a bid. TCU got in as well with 8-10 in conference.

This year is so biased to the non P5 schools.

WCC- gets 3 teams in. This year wasn't any different than other years for them and they usually have the 2nd team on the bubble. Why is San Fran in? They beat Davidson and? They were 0-5 vs the WCC's best 2 teams. They were 1-1 vs BYU. They lost to Loyola. You can't be 4th in the WCC with your best Ws as Davidson and BYU while also losing to Grand Canyon and Portland. Do they have the worst resume ever?

MWC- they aren't a good conference and usually struggle to get 2 teams in. How do they get 4 teams in? Wyoming making it is a joke. Their best W OOC was Washington. They also lost to Stanford. Sorry but the MWC isn't better than the ACC yet Wake get left out?

AAC- they have had a hard time getting teams in. Yet Memphis makes it as a 9 seed instead of an 11?

Big East- why is Marquette in? Sorry 11-8 in conference isn't good enough. Especially given 3 OOC losses (one to the Bonnies).

Va tech and ND were the last two teams in. Meaning one more upset combined with Duke beating Va Tech would have made the ACC a 3 bid league.
Any normal SU team of the 90’s and 2000’s would have won the ACC easily this year. It’s amazing how bad the conference was. It’s also amazing how bad this Syracuse basketball team was.

Agreed.

Vegas is the great arbiter if the committee screws up seedings
If money floods in on South Dakota State a 4 seed could be pick ‘em against them.

I worry that game is early could affect SDSU them flying East and PC isn’t far from Buffalo.

If that game is at night i like SDSU even more.

Does this happen before or after UMass goes to the Big 10. You're worse than the Dude from WV, Frank the Tank, and Clay Travis.
BYU is going to the Big12 and Gonzaga doesn't want to play in a no name conference and the Pac12 would never invite them. The MWC with the Zags would be a real conference in basketball.

I don't necessarily fully agree.

Seedings are based on your resumes (and the established seeing policies, principle) and not your team efficiency as measured by something like KP.

Lines are typically based on efficiency systems like KP (as I have commented a number of times over the years it seems that Vegas uses a system very close to KP as the opening lines are almost always very similar)

They measure two different things, so a 6-11 game could be a close line but both seeds still make sense.

If the NCAA wanted to get seeds and lines more congruent, they would just select them and then seed them all on a computer forumulae.

B1G always get a huge preference and over-seeded.
There's still politics at play.

The BIG got 4 teams in 2018.

They have played really well out of conference in the last 3 years boosting their metrics. When they sucked OOC in 2018, they got hammered just like the ACC did this year.

That being said my theory is that any conference that gets 7 or more teams tends to have some of its members overseeded. Not just the BIG.

Something something we were competitive, just needed a few games to go our way, etc.

This resume which also include a win over a #1 seed, and three wins over a #2 seed

Is worse than this one? Which has one win over a #1 seed and only one win vs a #2 seed?

I hate Duke.

Have you handicapped the Colgate/Wisky game? O/U is 138, Wisky -7.5.

Your boys could win that game.
Wisconsin is all about Johnny Davis.
If Davis struggles Wisconsin is medicore.

I wouldn’t touch that game but I wouldn’t be shocked if that 14 over 3 happened. I don’t like Wisconsin they just got a good location though. I like Iowa in the region if they win their first game.

Texas -1 against Virginia Tech
North Carolina -4 against Marquette.

Give me the underdogs in both games.
I’m just not sure if Marquette can handle bacot

I have been watching the ESPN show "Bracketology - Field of 136" since about 10:15. Not watching that intently, but I don't believe they have talked about the NCAA Woman's Tournament yet.

Not that I wanted to hear much about the Woman's tournament, but why bother calling the show the Field of 136?

Beard has NCAAT experience and played a tough B12 schedule. If Tech has their heads in the clouds from beating a weak Duke team at the ACCT, Texas will house them.

Anybody do survival or upset pools? It’s an interesting addition to a normal bracket pool.

The upset pool I just joined and you pick ten teams. Whatever the seed, that’s the points you accumulate each round. If a team makes the FF, add another 5 on top. Makes the champ game, add 10. If you pick winner, add another 20.

It’s interesting. I’ve stared at my list longer than I should ever admit to another human. My cat probably doesn’t understand, so I can tell him.
